cfo sucks

My fiance went to the cfo and it was a nightmare. Her cfo seminar was scheduled 2 days before her flight. This was supposed to be the easy part. They wouldn't give her the sticker because she wouldn't show "my" cenomar. They had her in tears. She kept trying to explain that there is no cenomar in the USA, but the idiot lady she interviewed with didn't want to accept her explanation. Needless to say, the easiest part of the process turned out to be the hardest. You would think that a government organization that actually has country specific seminars would know this and not make a difficult situation more difficult with some ignorant bs. Obviously, the US embassy approved her passport and visa. They already did the investigative work as well as USCIS. Eventually she got the sticker, made her flight and has been here in the USA with me for a week. She is very fierce and determined and gave them a piece of her mind. The CFO seminar is just another excuse to extort an extra $10 from the US petitioner.

Oh wow. So how did she go about it? She just explained it over and over again that there is no cenomar in the us? Or did she show any divorce decree?

CFO is just another way to get some money and give some people a job. Philippines Government doesn't give a damn about their people.

It perfectly fine for girls to go to Japan and prostitute for a living, just as long as the girls send money home. It fine for helpers to go to Middle East and get acted like slaves, just as long as you remit money back to Philippines

Back about 15 years ago when you went to CFO they tried to get the girls going abroad to remit money back to social security in Philippine, Then in 2009 they had a bank rep trying to get the people to sign up for Philippine credit cards.

Sad that it hAppened to your fiancee. But i still believe that cfo is not just a way to extort people. It is educational. And i truly believe that they tend to scrutinize applicants if they dont have have enough docs to support their answers or if there is a tiny bit questionable to a relationship.

happy to know that your fiancee is there for a week now. Goodluck on your marriage.

They don't need to scrutinize anything. The embassy and USCIS have already done the scrutinizing. Once someone goes there as the last step of the process, they should just give them the seminar and sticker. What makes the CFO more qualified than USCIS or the US embassy? The only hard part for us was this CFO nonsense. All the other steps were a piece of cake. All you have to do is follow the visa journey guides.

CFO has never been known to be the "easy" part, it has always been the most annoying and difficult part, especially if the Filipina is shy, meek and not self assured and confident. And no CFO is not all about extort $10.. it has a purpose to protect the Filipina from "dangerous kanos" ;)

I can see you are PO'd. It will eventually pass and you'll be able to remember the episode in a different light.

Not that it makes any difference now but everyone needs to realize that CFO = Philippines and USEM = United States. They don't talk to each other at all.

That's why it is so important to have all the bola-bola docs they are asking for before you enter the CFO offices. There must have been some incident or misunderstanding that set the CFO off and it deteriorated from there. We very seldom hear of incidents as yours here. A lot of frustration but nothing like this.

I thought the seminar was just more PI bola-bola, just like the pre-marriage LCR seminar I had to attend. In the end I believe both my asawa and I saw value in each. You just need to attend each with an open mind.

Just my $0.02

I have never heard of anyone failing CFO. I have heard of them having having to come back for stupid stuff like fiancé mothers maiden name, etc.

About 6 years ago you could go to CFO in Manila at either St. Marys (Ran by nuns and more relaxed) or PRISM (This location was giving some applicants going to USA a hard time, but again never heard anyone fail, Cry Yes, but never failed)

I suspect she went back and re did CFO and got her sticker. Let me clarify I have seen a 2 reports of the girl leaving crying CFO and no sticker being issued after another CFO session, I have never seen anyone not getting a CFO sticker, It might take more than one attempt.
