I would send an inquiry o n day 61 :) Their verbiage states that we should allow 60 days from your interview date or from the date the receive the documents. They have us all intimidated right now because THEY HOLD THE HANDLE !!! BUT we still have rights especially since you were never told a reason for the extended AP. Hang in there. Hopefully they will respond with some insight .

Hi CandAm!

Thank you so much, you always encourage me to stay positive. I'll do as you say, will keep you posted. Can't believe your case is still stuck on this, praying for good news next week for all of us.

have a good weekend! :)

There is no evidence that enquiring will delay your case. The operators aren't the ones working on it, and they "welcome" you to enquire after 60 days. Thought I think you'll get the same automated response, I don't think there is any harm. Please let us know the outcome!

Hi davealton!

you're right, I've waited as long as they say, now I have the right to ask. Let's see what's the answer. :-)

Thank you!!

Bit of good news today.. Our status changed from Administrative Processing to Ready. We got all teary with excitement.. We've also read that from Ready to Issued can be a few hours to a month?!? Anyone know what the deal is going from Ready to Issued?

How is everyone else doing?? Anyone else seeing any action?

Ready means that your file was transferred for consular review, so it basically moved to a pile on someone else's desk...

at least its a sign that something is moving.

our file shifted to Ready on June 28th, after we sent new documents on June 18th, and Im still waiting here, crashing in friends apartment with my 3yo daughter. aint easy but hoping for some prospects as we're at week 5 out of the 8 processing weeks they suggest it would take.

we were also told to not contact them anymore and wait...

if any one has any updates, please do share !

Congrats!!! I am glad something is changing in your file. Mine went from AP to ready really fast once my document was received. I have been in ready status for like 6 weeks. First time the status date changed for me on July 16 but nothing else has changed. I am on my 7th week this week so I hope to see something by next week per their 8 week deadline.

There were few K1 approval on Saturday so that was good to see. Hope you are doing better and we all hear good news soon.

Hi Idy,

Just a warning - My lawyer told me not to email Montreal again. Apparently if you pester them too much they really can delay your case, it's not just a scare tactic. But your first email is just fine!

I sent an inquiry to the embassy after the first 60 days on AP. 15 minutes later I received an answer... Same automatic message they've been sending to everybody. here its:

Good day,

We reviewed our consular records and confirm that your visa application is still
undergoing administrative processing.

We realize that these extended time periods cause frustration to many
individuals, and we are sensitive to the fact that the purpose of the immigrant
visa program is to facilitate legitimate travel to the U.S. Nonetheless, the
Consulate in Montreal, like all U.S. Embassies and Consulates, must adjudicate
visas in accordance with the provisions of the law, and, in some cases, this
involves extensive administrative processing. While we cannot predict when the
processing of your visa will be completed, please be assured that the Consulate
and the State Department are aware of your concerns and will contact you as soon
as the processing is complete.

Meanwhile, you are welcome to regularly visit https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC/ if
you wish to verify the status of your case online.

If you wish to have your passport returned for travel purposes, you may request
it by completing the public inquiry form here. We will then return the passport
using the Loomis courier services and request it back when the administrative
processing is complete.

I hope that this information is useful.

Sincerely,

OP11

In a matter of hours, our status went from AP to Ready, back to AP and now.....ISSUED!!!

Interesting to note that we got another email reply from Congresswoman Lois Frankel today that she received from from the Consulate. So I'm not sure if her office had any sway or not??

But we did keep pushing her (And Senator Marco Rubio) to pursue our case on our behalf.

What happens now that it is ISSUED?

The status reads:
Your visa is in final processing. If you have not received it after more than five (5) working days, please visit www.usvisa-info.com/en-CA/selfservice/us_courier_information to track your courier waybill, to check your profile at the appointment website, or send an email to Contactus_en_ca@usvisa-info.com to determine the status of your passport.

Should we expect an email when ready to pick up at Loomis? Any idea how long this part takes?

Thanks and tears of joy!!
