Tax Transcripts

Someone who had their interview in Atlanta told me it's not a big deal if I have the transcripts with me because since I already sent them with my package they don't really need them, they may ask for it but they don't really require them. The U.S. Citizen birth certificate, passports, green cards is the thing I am required to take with me.

Maybe it went fine for them but some CO's are very picky about having the actual transcripts. It's better to be safe than sorry. But in your situation the worst that can happen is they'll postpone the visa until you get the real transcripts which wouldn't be too long since you've already ordered them through mail.

I'm so dumb, I thought this was a consulate interview. But maybe the same applies here? Sorry!!

"A million years if I could live,
A thousand lives if I could give,
I would spend it all again with you,
Don't forget where you belong,
Only with me you are strong,
Not even the gods above can break,
Baby what we have"

Yes, This is citizenship only. It just doesn't make sense for them to make a big deal out of it since I already send the transcripts, they have the originals that I got from IRS. The only thing would be the taxes that I filed for this year which was not included with the package, hopefully turbo tax should be fine. I actually talked to another friend and she said she gave them the turbo tax copy and they were ok with it. I guess we'll see after monday.

if they already have the originals you should be fine, plus you're getting them in the mail soon anyways

I wonder why you could not get them faxed to you. I called my local IRS office (Minnesota) and had them on my fax machine within a few minutes. No problems, just had to answer a few questions about the return. I guess I got lucky.

Anyways, I'm sure you will be fine with your TurboTax paperwork, along with whatever W2s or 1099s you got from your employer. Especially for citizenship, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Good luck!

We sent in the tax transcripts with the N-400 app, so ####### do we need to take them to the interview?

It's up to you... as you said, you already sent them, so they should have them.

They should be in your file when you arrive for your interview and that should be the end of it.

Now, assume you get there and the interviewer says they're not in your file... they lost them. What happens? You won't get a decision that day and you'll have to mail them in and wait for a decision in the mail.

So I would take everything I can possibly think of to the interview. If the interviewer doesn't ask for them, then leave them in your bag/folder.

Just like you, here in Houston today the officer did not ask my wife for ANY documents and got her citizenship and her ceremony will be on June 23. For those in Houston, let me tell you the Houston office in the Greenspoint area on Northpoint is a dump. Filthy. Filthy bathrooms.

Congratulations to your wife.

I'll just point out that there are a couple of VJ forums where political comments are welcome and encouraged:

I agree that the Greenspoint office isn't very impressive.

Congrats to your wife. What is her timeline. when did she apply for naturalization?

We filed her N400 90 days early as allowed in October last year, so it took about 8 months
