I'm kind of new here. I filed the petition in January and have received the receipt so now we're just waiting. I'm stressing over the affidavit of support though. I don't meet the income requirement and I've heard about other immigrants having a church or something sponsor them. Is that really possbile? Does anyone know of any organizations that sponsor immigrants? Thanks

No idea about organizations.....a lot of people get a family member or close friend. There is economic ramifications so be sure to make that clear when asking someone to help you out.

I'm not sure about churches...most everyone who needs a co-sponsor has a family member or a friend do that. Maybe someone else has had that experience with a church sponsoring the fiancé. :)

You would need a cosponsor that you know and trust because later in the stage they make legal promises and obligations to you and also because whoever is cosponsoring you will be giving you information such as letters from their employer, possibly paystubs and tax information, and letters from their bank about how much money they have. I'm not sure how a church does this as a whole or if this is applicable in this case, I'm really not sure. You should really look into having a close family member or friend cosponsor you if that option is available.

Can't use a church to fill out affidavits of support for marriage based immigrants. The affidavit of support must be filed by a person in a marriage based immigration case. However, a church can provide an offer of employment for the alien, in lieu of the affidavit of support.
