Howdy VJers,

Andy recieved our NOA2 by Mail yesterday and it said we should get packet 3 in about 4 weeks. Wooohooo!

What sort of questions are in packet 3?

Love hurts

When you live an ocean away

When you change your sleep schedule to catch a few more moments

When you really need to be held and you have to imagine whilst your partner describes it

When you constantly refresh the USCIS website to see if you're getting any closer

Love Loves

When it repays you with the love of your life

When God finally answered your biggest prayer

When you can live life again in the real world but still have that eternal connection

When you wake up for to the beginning of the rest of your life with the person you fought so hard for

When you love somebody that much

You'll do anything

Congrats!

The packet 3 my fiancee received had asked for the following:

Police Certificates

Judicial Certificates

Medical Exam

Supporting evidence of the relationship

Form 179

Form DS156K

Form I-134 Affadavit of Support (filled out by the USC)

The questions asked in the forms my fiancee had to fill out were pretty general in nature and were kind of similar to the G325 application from what I recall. I only got to see it briefly.

congrats :D

can I please chip in with a question on what is the actual difference between packet 3 & 4

when we were at the embassy, Zagreb Croatia, the nice lady copied for us the package that they will send me when it gets to that stage....mercuryroad from what you posted of the checklist, that would seem to be the packet 3 you guys refer too.... which only leaves me confused about the packet 4. help?

Packet 4 is the interview date.....in my case, the embassy in Peru actually sends Packet 3 and 4 at the same time now.

The police check does take a little bit of time in the UK. They say 40 days and mine took 38 so I would say send off for it now so that by the time you have your packet 3 you'll have it ready and can send it all back quicker for the interview date.

It's one easy form to fill in and costs £10. Below is the name and address of the people who sent me my letter about my background. ( I was rather disappointed it just said you are not on our database!)

National Identification Service

Subject Access Room

Room 350

New Scotland Yard

Broadway

SW1H 0BG

020 7230 2958

I think you have to go through your local police station to get the form though. My aunt works on the switchboard for our local police and gave me a number to call for them for the form but I don't live in lancashire. You could give the number above a call they'd probably help you or as I said ring your local police station and ask.

Hope that bit is helpful.

Oh one other thing. You might want to talk to your doctors about your vacination records and see what you've had. I had trouble with my doctors because there was a massive wait to see the vacination nurse so I couldn't get some of the vacinations I needed done before and I had to pay £60 for vacinations at the medical exam. You can get some of the jabs done on the NHS free so it might be worth checking that you're up to date on tetanus, diptheria, mumps, measles, rubella etc. Those are the main ones. The UK doesn't give out the Varicella one (chicken pox) and they're pretty much out of Flu jab too.

You need a list of your vacinations to take to the medical so even if you don't need any jabs before it you will still need the list.

Congratulations!!! You only need the flu jab if you are over 50 LOL. You can also apply for your Police certificate online and there's a phone number you can call and leave your details and they will send you the application. You can download all the forms that are in PK3 here on VJ. I posted a copy of the medical questionnaire a while back.

Good Luck

Hmm ok... ty everybody.

Now the police certificate 40 days you say? Dang, I would try and get it now I'm just worried about if they need to see proof of like it saying on packet 3 that I need it and I cannot supply them with that just now, also the date on the police certificate would be earlier than when the embassy requested us of it. I've asked this before but would this cause a problem? Also do I need a copy of this police certificate for the interview or is it for the interview and not to be sent back in before hand?

I also wondered about the medical and interview. It's going to be a huge deal for me to get to london as it is (I'm wheelchair dependant etc need special assistance and transport)....how can we get them on the same day? I see alot of people do get them on the same day but I'm also aware you get the interview date after the list of medical places to try and get an appointment with. I want to try and make sure they're on the same day. It'll take me 4-6 hours to get from lancashire to london as is. Would I just hang onto the medical addresses until I recieve an interview date and then ring round to book a medical appointment?

Also I'm going to need to send out co-sponcer forms to my fiance's mom to say she'll support us finantionally. Now is that the advicate of support (sp?) forms? They come with packet 3 yes? Also do I need to get more passport size photos of my fiance to take to the interview? He only managed to get 2 last time and we sent those in.

How is the london embassy about medications? I'd need to take my asthma inhalers and painkillers into the building especially after the long journey and waiting around. I realise they take things off you. Do I need to get a doctors letter to say I'm on all these medications and that I need to have them with me at all times? They are all prescription drugs.

As for the police certificate is it offically 40 days even with me having a clean record (never been charged/commited a crime)? I would like to send away for it now like people are advising but my parents recon i should wait till packet 3 incase the police station wants to see where it says it's needed ya know? I dunno if they will but just want to make sure.

Vaccinations hehe I was to an advantage I've had the flu and pneumonia, MMR booster, tetnus etc jabs (basically all available in the UK) because I'm very vunerable. But ty for the reminder. Does it cost to obtain the vaccination record? Do I ask at my GPs ?

Also as many of you know I have alot of medical issues. When going to this medical in london would you advise me taking a doctors letter saying my conditions and that they aren't contagious etc...or is it better to actually bring a copy of some or all of my medical files themselves to prove I'm not a harm to anybody? Also I take steriods for asthma ..... I understand they take blood, if it shows in it will it cause a problem also I'm unsure if anything will be seen on a chest x-ray asthma wise as I've never actually had one. ROFL had every single test except a chest x-ray. I've also heard some horror stories where they don't give you anything to cover yourself. Please say they give you a gown now

Fiona, I think you need to come on over to the embassy forum now for your information.

There is a new provider doing the medicals and I don't believe they are even giving female exams now.

Wes took his inhalor into the embassy. Nobody will care if you do that. I also believe the embassy has wheelchair access but I am ashamed to say I don't know anything about it. I think when you send Packet 3 back in you might want to put a cover letter on explaining you will need help that day. Normally parents aren't allowed in but they are SOOO accomodating in London...I am sure if you explain your condition they will help you figure something out.

About your police report - they don't care why you need one. They happily send it to you for the small fee of 10 quid!

When you call to schedule your medical, I think you should briefly explain your condition to the receptionist and ask her if they need any of your records. Perhaps they will let you speak to a nurse - I think it's better to get your information that way as your condition is not like any I have seen go through London before.

We are all pulling for you by the way. Come on over to the embassy forum - there is a special thread there for Brits!

The police back ground check is valid for 6 months so getting it a week or so early isn't going to make any difference. And yes even though you don't have a record it still takes the same amount of time to get it. I had no record either but it still took a while. So I would apply for it now. As someone else said you don't need a reason to apply for your background check. Some people need them for work etc you are legally entitled to it. My form had a little box to tick saying it was for a visa.

Now I thought there are a few other places for the medical. I'd heard some people say there was a hospital in Birmingham that did it. I might be wrong. Your pack three will tell you.

The chest xray. It's easy as pie. They give you a gown to wear. I had the gown on my top half and still had my jeans on so you won't be naked. It was a female xray woman anyway. South African I think, she had an accent. I don't think the xray will matter about your asthma. I think they are looking for TB and stuff like that. Lots of people have asthma so I wouldn't worry about that.

No your vacination record is free from your GP. I just had to send a little letter to the travel nurse and she just printed off a list of all I'd had and I collected it a few days later. It should all be on their computers.

I saw a male doctor (called Rudolph!). He was very nice. They said you can have a female nurse or doctor if you'd like. I wasn't bothered and to be honest he didn't really do a great deal. Measured how tall I was how much I weighed. Asked me a bunch of questions about if I'd had operations before etc. Took my blood pressure, listened to my heart, pressed my stomach a bit and did the reflex test on my knees.

The blood test is for HIV and Syphillis. I don't think they're testing for anything else.

There is a form you have to fill in and take to the medical that asks some health questions. Just answer it honestly and you'll be fine.

You won't need any photo's of your fiance for the interview. You will need 3 of you though. One for the medical and 2 for the visa interview. They are very specific on the sizes of the photos though. They have to be 2" square and your head has to be a certain size and distance from the bottom etc. Lol it took me 3 tries before I got them right. They have a list of places you can get those done at. Snappy snaps are the best option I think as they have branches everywhere. You can't get them at normal passport photo boothes they aren't big enough.

Yes the co sponsor stuff will be included in your pack three.

Basically your pack three arrives. Firstly you fill in the forms they have sent you asking basic questions about you (they are all basically the same questions just worded every so slightly different!). They get sent back straight away so they can be processing them. Then you need to gather all the supporting evidence stuff on the list. Once you have all the required bits (your co sponsor stuff, photos, police background check etc) you send back a form that was included basically saying you have collected all the stuff now give me an interview. None of your supporting evidence is sent to them. You take it all to the interview. The medical results are sent to the embassy by the doctors.

I would speak to them about the medical/interview being on the same day. The form just has a spot to write your medical date in so I think you could organise them together. They seem to have a lot of gaps for the medical as when I rang she offered me one in like 2 days time so I wouldn't worry about them not being able to fit you with the interview.

I think that answers most of your questions if there's anything else just yell and I'll see what I can do.
