OT sorta, but just needed to put it out somewhere.

Today was my last day at my job. Really didnt like the job. It was purely to make ends meet. Found saying goodbye to the people I'd worked with since day 1 a lot harder than I expected. And shortly, I will be picking up the girls, who will be saying their goodbyes to their before and after school program teachers and friends. The appartment is mostly cleared out and boxed up. Salvation army will be here in a week to collect the majority of the furniture. Everything is just really hitting home now. Its really happening. 12 days and he will be on his way to pick us up. And then the big goodbye to my parents. I honestly hadn't expected it to be this hard. Its taken me off guard. Don't get me wrong, the 3 of us have been and continue to be very excited for this move. The tying up of loose ends and saying the goodbyes just really suck :( Think I will grab the kiddoes and go out and get the fixings for a girls night in. Funny mixed pot of emotions this visa process is

Packet 3 returned to Mtl: October 26th, 2006.

Medical: January 10th, 2007

Interview: January 23rd, 2007, at 2:30. APPROVED

Entry to the US: Feb 28th, 2007 POE Ivy Lea

Married: March 2nd, 2007

AOS/EAD sent May 4th, 2007

NOA1s for all 3 AOS and my EAD May 14th, dated for May 10th

EAD touched May 28th,29th, 2007, Youngest daughter's AOS touched May 29th, 2007

Biometrics: May 30th, 2007

All cases touched May 31, 2007, June 5th, 2007, August 1st, 2007

All 3 AOS transferred to California July 5th, 2007

EAD Approved July 27th, 2007

Finally movement on my AOS, touched on Feb 22 & 24th

GC May 11 2008, date of april 29th on them.

It can be a rollercoaster thats for sure!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Just knowing my interview date yesterday, then all the girls at work started crying when I said it means im leaving in less than 2 months....

And i love my job and the people Ive been working with for the 4 last years.....thats gonna be a hard one to replace.

And of course my family as well.

I know i will find it hard as well. But hey, so much more of that life ive always dreamed of to come....

It's natural to feel loss for the life you're leaving. But it will always be part of you! You can look at the photos and mementos any time you like.

Meanwhile, you're crossing a beautiful bridge into a brand new life with those you love. Get out the camera to capture the new memories and milestones! Have a stiff drink, a blubbering cry, a bone cracking hug with everybody you love. Then strike out on your new and very excellent adventure!

Saying goodbye is so hard .. but change is also exciting :dance: I think i was the most worried about my kids adgusting into US schools .. and they have both done so well .. all A's n B's on the first report cards !! Best wishes to you and your children on your move and new life in the US

Thanks all. We all had some hot chocolate, and various other goodies that are ultimately very bad for our health and browsed our albums one last time before packing them away. What we have to look forward to makes having to say the goodbyes so very worth it.

I'll be a little sad to leave too. I'll miss the dogs the most. :)

I'll be excited for my family to come visit me though, show them around New Orleans. I think they will love it.
