It's true... Nepal is now on the list. Thanks Captain!

I added a Consulate review from our faulty memories (the interviews were about a year and a half ago!). I invite others to do the same.

Best wishes,

Maya

Many thanks to the Visajourney community for all the help!

So I guess I shouldn't be sweating too much - if I send in the petition in March to VSC we should still be good for June interview??? :)

Well, he only had a small sample of evidence of our relationship (copies only) and a replica of our I-134 package (again, just copies), and maybe a dozen more pictures. Apparently, that was enough! He's very brave, imho, and does what has to be done. I don't think Nepal gets too many K visa apps. There's a way to figure out what number you are from the case number assigned by the DOS. I did it at the time, but I forget now exactly how it's done. At any rate, by the formula, I think we were case number 004, and that was in the fall of the year!

There are just so few cases going through Kathmandu, it's hard to tell what kind of schedule the Consulate will have. I think "Ma and Timi" went through quite fast, too. Their timeline says they received packet three on Dec 4 and she had her interview on Dec 11 ! Also lightening fast compared to every other Consulate I've read about.

As for the New York minute, now that will take some adjusting! I don't think I could do it! Oy.

I only have 4 photos total of us together, all of which I am submitting with the K-1 petition... :( I hope this won't be a problem. K loved my digital camera so much that he was carrying and using it most of the time, as a result there aren't too many photos of him, especially with me... I will hopefully be arriving in KTM on May 18th and hope we can get lots more taken and developed before the interview(will bring disposable cameras since getting prints from digital in time might be a problem over there), but by then it might be too late? Do they get submitted with packet 3 or does he bring them to the interview? I have tons of other evidence for us meeting and continuing our relationship, emails, IMs, Western Union records, FedEx forms, etc. I will be buying my ticket soon so can also make a copy of my itinerary, ticket., etc.

There should not be any problem getting photos made from digital, and fast, in Kathmandu.

We used a couple of places right in Thamel. One of them is a modern-looking (compared to everything else in Kathmandu) camera shop on ground floor facing the Tridevi Marg, approximately across the street from the building where Fire & Ice Pizza is, and that little brick ATM shrine... lol. I remember it being green and white with lots of glass. I think it's the same building (or a close neighbor) as the one where KEEP used to be and probably NorthFace still is on an upper floor.

We had tons of pictures from the village of friends and family (from our visit after we got the visas) and wanted to send a set back to the village with his brother before we left... I think they turned the whole thing around in an afternoon for us, prints and cd's both, and at a fairly reasonable price. But you can just ask around, especially at the hotels or maybe Pilgrim's Books... I am sure there are LOTS of shops like it that are catering to the tourists and will work fast to earn your rupees.

I don't think they'll want the photos and other evidence of relationship until the interview, but considering the limited information available about how the Consulate in Ktm works, the interview could be very soon after he delivers packet 3. I guess if I were you, I'd spend at least a couple of days when you arrive visiting your favorite old haunts and any friends and/or family that are around, take a few more pics together, get them developed, and then submit packet 3. You could even go with him to the Consulate to drop it off, if you are planning to be with him at the interview anyway.

Getting excited for you! :D

Hey Maya Didi...

I know exactly where that place is, I think that was the ATM that ate my card the last time I was there, luckily I was able to phone someone to get it out of the machine... I remember another photo place near Pilgrims as well(I love that place as well as the Barnes & Noble Book House nearby so know the area very well... ;) ). Ok, so I'll bring my digital camera only - my mom gave me a 2GB memory stick so hope that will last for 6 weeks... :) Want to get lots of photos especially seeing as this is our 'pre-honeymoon' - K has lots of places he wants to take me that I didn't get to visit before, like Pokhara, amazing I was never there before...

Your timing sounds good since it takes so little time after submitting packet 3 to get an interview - sounds like a plan :) I can't wait - just wish I would get my !@# tax refund so I could go ahead and buy my ticket already... I read on another board(YetiZone) that this year's trekking season is expected to be much more heavily booked than last year's since the political situation has cooled down pretty much, so since I am traveling at the tail end of it I hope I won't have trouble getting a cheap ticket... I'm getting excited too, can't wait to see my Tiger again... (L)

Sounds like a plan... hopefully the Consulate will do as expected. I wish we had more to go on than just two cases, over a year apart. Please don't hold it against me if it doesn't go as planned! :(

I still haven't been to Pokhara either!! :crying: And I don't think we'll get there on the next trip. We're thinking July... brief trip to Langtang/Gosainkund, returning by way of their village to visit family... about 2 weeks total.

Yeah, I think you'll be OK in May... things should really be dropping off by then. Which airline do you usually take? Send a prayer to Ganesh and ask him to talk to his buddies at the IRS! ;)

Don't know if you saw my thread on the subject, but I bought my ticket - I'll be back with mero maya on May 17th!!!!:dance: Watch for earthquakes and avalanches, lol...

Ganesh and Tara work fast  , got my refund yesterday and no problems getting the dates I wanted and a good fare... The first time I went to Kat I took Singapore, which doesn't fly there anymore... The second time(last summer) I took Gulf Air, which has a good connection from JFK through Heathrow and Muscat - total traveling time 20 hours. This time I am flying with Thai Air, have heard good things about them and I will be spending 5 days in Bangkok on the way back - unfortunately alone since K needs to go to India at that time  , but I am excited since I have never been there, maybe it will make the separation easier... :(
