Why don't we just forget about the ###### pumps and let the boat sink?

I'm up to my elbows in grease in the bilge and the ###### phone rings.......

And who is it? Tiff, of course. Can I take 3 hours to change the most vital component of my boat??

Why can't people write you instead of u or your instead of ur?

because instead of coz....

It annoys the heck out of me. I get when people are not native english speakers and try to make allowances in my head for it. But at the same time, you'll never learn how to write english properly if you don't ever write it properly. You know that saying "practice makes perfect"? Well it's not true. Perfect practice makes perfect. If you don't practice the right way, you'll never get it right! I've heard of high school teachers allowing students to write in slang for essays and reports and don't agree with it at all. If you make it to the job world, is your boss going to allow a report on their desk like that? Not likely.

It is laziness, pure and simple. If you are fluent enough to understand that you sounds like u and your could sound like ur, you are fluent enough to write the actual words.

ok, all bilge pumps are in working order on the boat. With 1 pump replaced, and 1 float switch replaced.

Fresh water pressure pump replaced.

Started the engines, Port engine needs a new salt water pump......

annoys the heck out of me.

whoa - you have a 2nd human there, acting as safety officer? (you know, the fella that calls 911 when the bilge pump motor falls on yer head)

if yes, and that human was there, you should have had HIM answer the phone and 'talk' with her. Easier, really.
