so, today, I speak of my FIL's sole remaining older brother's family. They call him 2nd uncle, the family is in Malaysia.....he has 2 daughters, 1 son.

The 2 daughters married fairly rich (gold diggers), rich enough to obtain B-1 Visas for the US. You may not remember, but I mentioned in passing, the older one, her husband was a snob when I was in Malaysia. He kinda heard that we were well to do here, and was fishing a lot for info, like income, etc..... I'm thinking to myself, if you need to know, then you don't compare....... He asked what my house is worth in NYC. When I spat out a round about figure, he said; "US Dollars?" He was humbled in an instant......

And, the 2nd uncle, still drives my FIL's 1982 Datsun B-210......

When I was there, no one of that family invited me to do anything with them.

In recent months, Tiff's grandfather has fallen ill, and require much care.

My FIL has been preparing the meals, everything for him.

The 2nd uncle, hasn't lifted a finger to help.

There's more. But another time.

That's the backdrop.

Forward to today.

The younger daughter of the 2nd uncle, and her husband, has come to NYC for vacation.

Tiff wants to invite them to a steak house.

I'm like.....why......#### these people.....

And, the boat's forward tank is now out of gas......

In Malaysia, the FIL was stepping away from the village to go to KL, and asked his brother to take care of their father. The 2nd uncle's response was, take him with you to KL.

And, while we were there, no one from that particular family invited us to do anything.

So, yes, they're getting the NYC "I'm a bigger snob than you" cold shoulder.

And they're also getting sticker shock from NYC hotel prices lol.

I didn't even tell you guys about what happened when fat boy's brother went to Malaysia for a visit a few months ago.

They came by last night, accompanied by Fat boy lol.

Now, here's another part of the story.

Lets start with the family tree.....

This 2nd uncle = # 2 son

my FIL = # 3 son

Fat boy father= # 4 son.

# 1 son died in 2010. My FIL was in a hurry to go say goodbye, that's how he incurred the 10 year ban.

So, Fat boy's family, had always been the grandparents favorite. But since he's the loser, and has abandoned his mother and father, and hasn't seen them in 16 years, the # 2 son is now the favorite.

The grandparents own land, rubber plantations, it's worth some money. May be 3-400k US?

When fat boy's older brother returned to visit, the grandmother asked him for 300k RM (say 80k US) to buy some more land. Fat boy's brother, sensing that eventually, this land will get left to #2 son, said "OK, but we'll put the land in my name". ergo defeating the scam.....

Now the # 2 son, is pretty useless, failing at everything he's ever done. And I think now he brags about his daughters' wealth. But as far as I can see, their husbands are not rich, it's their fathers whom are rich, and I use the term "rich" liberally.......

and just what exactly is definition of rich, anyway? Is it "Darklar rich"? or "Tarklar rich"? or "Ghetto rich"? I don't see it.....

So, Tiff's grandfather has fallen ill. He has 3 sons living, and 5 daughters. And my FIL is the one who looks after him.

Every year, the one mounted to the boat dry rots. I musta went through about 5 of these. I need it to hold the spools of leaders. I'm gonna make one out of wood. I bet you it'll last longer......
