All this talk of POEs & approvals is fantastic news for everyone involved, it's only now reading this thread that I've realised that if it hadn't been for work commitments & savings we'd have been at this point ourselves now!!!

An AOS thread would be awesome & with it being a long process I'll be able to jump into it in April after the wedding!! I've spent my "downtime" getting everything ready for AOS - just need to get this stage outta the way now.

Wanna share my experience!

My interview was at 10:00 AM Argentina time on the 10th of September.
I was so nervous, and got there early, around 09:30 AM, and went to the windows to get some help, because I was a little bit lost.

I approached to the window, and they told me to go to the "window 1" when it hits 10 o'clock, without waiting the long line of tourist visa. Around 9:50, they called me to the first window, I told them that I was there for K1 fiancée's visa appointment, and ask my name, which was on the list, and I hand me a green folder with a number to go straight through the security check, and go to step 4 to take my fingerprints. When I got there, their system was having some issues, and told me to go straight to the waiting room on step 5, and announce that the system was down, and hand my papers that the green folder asks. While waiting to be called, I started to get some of the papers, and they called me to the window 14. A very nice lady, where was the consul's assistant told me that it wasn't the actual interview and start gathering my papers together, then when I handed my fiancée's affidavit support , she told me that there was something wrong/missing/no the way that they need for, but still, she was going to hand it to the consul and that she might will be fine with it. Then she told me to take a seat, and wait to be called in the "window 5" for immigration visa interviews, and if she forgot to ask for my fingerprints, remind her for it.

By the time, it was around 10:15.

I took a seat, and waited.. They took around 45mins-60mins o review them, and I got called by my Argentinian name (Natalia Lin, not my actual name "Yueh Chun Lin") and headed to the interview room.

The consul was a very nice mid-age lady, and she directly spoke to me in english and asked me couple questions in the following order:
- Do you swear that all your answers today are true?
(then asked me to get my fingerprints)
- When was the first time you went to the states?
- What were you doing in Texas?
- How did you guys met?
- How long did you stayed in the states?
- What was your fiancé doing in Texas?
- Is he still in the military?
- What does your fiancé do?
- Where is he studying? Which college?
- Does he work?
- What are you planning to do in the states? Study? Work?
- What are the plans for the wedding?
- Are you guys planning to do it in the states or here in Argentina?
- Are you planning to bring your parents for the wedding in the states?
- What do you do here? Study? Work?
- When do you plan to fly to the states?

then she said "everything seems alright, so... YOUR VISA IS APPROVED!"
In that moment, I was almost tearing up!!!!
And then she told me that "the only thing is that the doctor of the medicals told forgot to sign one of the forms and they need to send it back to her, and it will be straight.. So, congratulations!! just wait for the DHL email confirmation email to pick up, and there you go!"

then handed me back my old passports and the receipt of the payment, and I left.

Everything went very smooth, and just remember to smile, always be honest, and everything will be fine.

Good luck to all!!
I walked out the embassy around 11:30, and I was already done with everything.

I am so excited! My fiance will be flying in this Thursday.

His POE is California. I can't wait until he is here. It's been too long that we have been apart.

We also found out why it took so long to get his visa. He would have gotten it a lot sooner, but they made a mistake on the first visa they printed on his passport and had to print another one.

The one they made a mistake on had a big stamp that said - Cancelled without Prejudices. It scared us both when he first got his visa, then we saw the second one in his passport and found out there was a mistake on the first one.

Has anyone done POE yet? My flight is booked for the 27th October so I've got six weeks to finish packing up my life ready for the big move. Nick will be flying out to pick me up and take me HOME! ❤️

Our POE was in Newark, NJ . Ours was quick and painless. I was actually able to bring him through the US Citizens line instead of the visitors line. We were both checked in at the same time. I told the guy that he was my fiance and here on a K1 visa. They scanned his passport and fingerprints then walked us over to a separate room. I was not able to go with but said I could wait right outside when he was done. He waited about 15 minutes before they called his name. Asked for the K1 envelope. Told him he had 90 days to get married and to have a good day. That was it!

And we are married! We arrived home tonight from our weekend together with my family. We were married on Friday! I'm so excited and happy! We made it!! Everything turned out wonderful! Small court house wedding with my close family and friends. We had a small after party at a nearby hotel where we rented their conference room to have wine and cupcakes. The hotel had a swimming pool for all of us to enjoy! It was great! Nice family get together to celebrate our wedding!

We booked our hotel room with the conference room at AmericInn Hotels. My dad gets some sort of discounts from being a AAA travel member and we were only charged $60 for the conference room to use it for 5 hours. There were 13 people there total and we had plenty of space for sitting. There were so many tables provided for us. We had one row set up for seating, next row of tables set up for food and another table set up for cakes and gifts. My mom went to the Dollar store for inexpensive decorations. She bought candles, ribbons and bows to decorate. I think things turned out great and especially since we were on a very short budget. Everyone had a wonderful time!

Hi All!

So today I receveived the appointment letter from the Embassy in Brussels. 27th October ( :joy: )

But that's 12 days after our NOA2 expiry date ( )

On the letter they wrote that we need to bring an additional dated letter to the interview which states that we both remain legally free to marry and continue to intend to marry within 90 days

So here's my question:

-Is this enough? I vaguely remember that the petitioner has to write a letter to the Embassy.

Correct? Anyone any experience with this? Any examples?

Thanks for the help you guys!

hi there! we had the same date and same situation! we emailed to ask what we needed to do and they replied saying to email them ASAP a signed copy of a letter asking for an extension and stating that we are still free and willing to marry and continuing on with the visa. we emailed that to them and they said they would only contact us if it was unapproved and since we never heard back we assume it was all OK. so, i would email them to be sure, have that email evidence that you inquired about extending your NOA2, wait for their reply and follow instructions they give.

Just a heads up for you all to double check the information on your I-94. We ran into a slight problem when applying for his social security card. He has 4 names: First, Middle and 2 last names. On his I94 his first and middle were listed both as his first name and only one of his last names leaving out the other. They went through and processed his social security application with his name correct but we were warned that we need to contact CBP to have the mismatched names corrected or we may run into issues when obtaining work because the name does not match.

I've read that some people were able to call and have their information corrected directly over the phone. I hope that I can get that done otherwise we need to make a trip to the nearest airport with a CBP Deferred Inspection Site.

uh oh! I hope that won't cause problems!

Here is a link that lists all the deferred inspection sites. Find the one nearest you and give them a phone call or email if listed.

http://www.cbp.gov/document/guidance/deferred-inspection-sites

I hope that this isn't a big issue but I would hate to get an RFE on any AOS because of his names being in the wrong spots on the I-94. It's all there just not in the complete order well minus one of his last names.

I am thankful that we had a knowledgeable employee at the social security office that noticed the small mistake.
