So... we had our interview today and... WE ARE APPROVED!!! :D

My fiancé and I spent 3 hours at the Paris embassy before we were called up for the interview, which was only 2 questions: how/when we met, and what I (the American petitioner) do for a living. That's it!

Thank you so much to everyone in this thread for all your help. Congrats to everyone else who has been approved, and for everyone still waiting, hang in there! It's worth it!

Hi all!

it is getting closer and closer to our interview (10/27) and i am a few days away from sending my packet over to my fiance in AUS. just want to confirm a few things bc my anxiety is getting stronger!!

we are USA/AUS. we are doing K1. we have a co-sponsor.

1.) our co-sponsor filled out Form I-134 Affidavit of Support and supplied all required documents. Is Form I-134 the correct form for K1 Co-Sponsors? Or is it the I-864?

2.) Do I, the petitioner/USC fiance also fill out the I-134 AOS or do I fill out the I-864?

..3.) Here is what I have for my co-sponsor: Form I-134, scan of passport bio page, photocopy of US birth cert, photo copy of his & mine drivers licenses showing we live at the same address(he is my step father), a letter from his bank declaring amount of savings, several pay slips, a signed letter from his employer declaring salary and contract, copy of payroll, more payslips issued from his employer, W2, copy of IRS tax return transcript and finally a copy of monthly mortgage payments on our house with Chase bank. Am I missing anything??

..4.) For myself I have: a signed Form I-134 AOS, signed letter from my employer declaring annual salary and date of employment (about 1 month ago), so far 2 copies of pay slips (waiting on more), and soon I will be obtaining a signed letter from my bank stating savings (only a little over a thousand) as well as writing a letter explaining why I did not file a tax return for the past year (I was living in Australia for the past 2 years) which means I don't have a W2 (I never worked on the books in the US until recently) so I don't have much more in my name to include.. Am I missing anything? Do I send over a photocopy of my birth cert and passport bio page again or will they have it already from the earlier petition? Do I include my travel itinerary showing I only just moved back to the U.S, and that is my proof why I did not file taxes? Do I include something showing I filed taxes in Australia?

Suggestions??

Any advice on what to state in my letter about not filing?

I really appreciate any feedback. Thanks! Goodluck to all!

we are USA/AUS. we are doing K1. we have a co-sponsor.

1.) our co-sponsor filled out Form I-134 Affidavit of Support and supplied all required documents. Is Form I-134 the correct form for K1 Co-Sponsors? Or is it the I-864? The I-134 is the correct form. The I-864 will be filled later for AOS (which, in terms of understanding short forms on this thread, means Adjustment of Status, and NOT Affidavit of Support- perhaps this will solve your confusion!!) Do not touch the I-864 right now, it is for after you are married.

2.) Do I, the petitioner/USC fiance also fill out the I-134 AOS or do I fill out the I-864? You, the petitioner, must also fill out the I-134 + evidence. Again, you don't need the I-864 right now, it gets filed with AOS (Adjustment of Status). Another reminder that that when you see AOS on these threads, it refers to Adjustment of Status and not Affidavit of Support.

..3.) Here is what I have for my co-sponsor: Form I-134, scan of passport bio page, photocopy of US birth cert, photo copy of his & mine drivers licenses showing we live at the same address(he is my step father), a letter from his bank declaring amount of savings, several pay slips, a signed letter from his employer declaring salary and contract, copy of payroll, more payslips issued from his employer, W2, copy of IRS tax return transcript and finally a copy of monthly mortgage payments on our house with Chase bank. Am I missing anything?? This looks good to me.

..4.) For myself I have: a signed Form I-134 AOS (affidavit, not adjustment of status), signed letter from my employer declaring annual salary and date of employment (about 1 month ago) (if there is a possibility to have them state if your position is permanent/temporary, full-time/part-time that would be good), so far 2 copies of pay slips (waiting on more), and soon I will be obtaining a signed letter from my bank stating savings (only a little over a thousand) as well as writing a letter explaining why I did not file a tax return for the past year (I was living in Australia for the past 2 years) which means I don't have a W2 (I never worked on the books in the US until recently) so I don't have much more in my name to include.. (They will have it) Do I include my travel itinerary showing I only just moved back to the U.S, and that is my proof why I did not file taxes? Do I include something showing I filed taxes in Australia? (Not sure if you will run into issues proving US domicile - maybe photocopy your driver's license, or provide bank statements that have been billed to your home address. As for the Australian taxes, I don't know - since you are using a co-sponsor I don't think it's necessary but maybe others can shed some light).

Suggestions??

Any advice on what to state in my letter about not filing? (I don't know other than I know you need the letter of explanation. Try a search on VJ by seeing what others have done)

I really appreciate any feedback. Thanks! Goodluck to all!

The BEST thing you can you do is read the reviews for the embassy that you are going to! Seriously, I knew the ins & outs of my interview process before I even left for Montreal by reading the reviews that others had left.

I'm not sure how tough your consulate is but for the most part, mine was very easy! Good luck :)

Yes, that was the worst part for me - hoping that I had all of the documents that were required to prevent delays. Make photocopies of everything - the original I-134 is required and they do not ask for a photocopy, however it would be ideal for you to keep a photocopy for yourself! Photocopy your passport photo page and your birth certificate - they will require those.
