WE GOT OUR INTERVIEW DATE!

After 2 months of being hung up on/ignored by the embassy, an ambassador, and the USCIS call center... we are finally scheduled for August 13th. I can't even begin to tell you guys how relieved we are!!

Yay!!! Grats! The interview itself should be super easy for Paris. The interview itself only lasted about 5 minutes and he was asked just a few simple basic questions. How we met and what my name was. The only thing that took long was just having to wait to turn in the additional paperwork that was requested then waiting again for the interview. I wish you both good luck with the interview!

Big congratulations to everyone with their interviews and cases making it to the embassies. It's very relieving to start seeing significant progress with our cases moving forward and we can all be reunited with our loved ones! <3

Hi everyone,

We scheduled our interview for September 1 in Rio, and I'm sending the documents this week - affidavit of support from me and my cosponsor. I have 3 big questions:

  1. Is there any way I can send these electronically? I don't know if that might be a consulate-specific question, but I figured I'd ask so I could potentially save the $40-$50. If not, oh well, what is $50 in this process anyways? A drop in the ocean!
  2. I'm 20 years old and am in sales, so my income varies. I've been in this job since February and make somewhere in the $20k's per year - not much but I'm wondering, if I rent a room in the house of my co-sponsor, and am not financially dependent on her, would that make our household 1 or 2 people? I'm super worried about being denied based off of income.
  3. Speaking of #2, the woman whose house I rent a room in is cosponsoring me, and she makes plenty enough money to sponsor - which form does she fill out, and are our chances of being approved lower because of it?

If anyone can throw some advice my way, I would greatly appreciate it!

i don't know all the answers to your cosponsor questions, but the cosponsor would fill out the same I134 form that you have to fill out. cosponsors don't hurt chances at all. if anything, they increase your chances as far as the financial aspect of the process.

as far as sending the documents...unfortunately at this point in the process, everything has to be an original signature. so electronic isn't an option :(

congrats on the interview!

Thanks shellymarie! I'm hoping to find the fastest option to send documents to Brazil, we have less than a month!

I think my fiancee got in touch with you on our account, he brings you up everytime we're on the phone! "Ask shellymarie this, ask her that" it's great to have someone going through the same process as us, I can't imagine where we would be without this site.

lol aww! yeah i spoke to him. either of you can feel free to message me anytime if you have questions!!

i used the post office. i sent a ton of paperwork so my package was a little over a pound. i chose the next option up from the cheapest and it costed me $52 (i think the cheapest was $42 or something) but it got there in 2 weeks!! plus it came with a tracking!

i agree! this site has saved my life!! so happy to almost be done with this part of the process!!

hi all, does anyone know if 12 days is too long to be waiting for your case to get to your embassy after the case left the NVC? If so, what can I do?

Thanks!

did NVC confirm that they've already sent it to the embassy? if so, what date did they send it? are you still getting the "in transit" message when you track the case on the CEAC website?

you can email your embassy to check if they've received it (make sure you include the case number in your email).

start gathering all the paperwork you'll need. you can find all the requirements of things you'll need to gather on your embassy's website.

I got my case number from NVC :-)

The embassy received my case on the 25th of July :-)

Still waiting for my packet 3 :-(

There is anything I can do for now ???

Be sure to check if your consulate does indeed send a packet three. Apparently ours, Guayaquil, Ecuador doesn't send anything (likely because the postal system in Ecuador is not too functional...)

Hi thanks. Yes NVC told me it left on July 21. So it's been about 12/13 days. Yes CEAC still says in transit, for more then a week. And I emailed the embassy and they said they haven't received it yet which is why I am concerned Edited by stephelliott

gotcha. did you try doing the DHL tracking trick to see if your package that was sent out on the 21st arrived at the embassy? I'm on my phone right now but if you're on a computer and if you go back to page like 27 or 28 (i think)...someone gave instructions I how to track the package from NVC to embassy. if your package arrived and was signed for then i wouldn't worry. sometimes it takes them A WHILE to route the package to the right department. so while they tell you they haven't received it, it might just mean they haven't received/opened it in the right department yet.

I'm sorry! i can only imagine how stressful it must be! but I'm sure everything is fine!

Thanks! Yeah I did do a DHL tracking and saw something heading to Sydney on that date and was signed for at Sydney, and crossed my fingers that it was actually mine :) but of course no way to know for sure. I just keep looking at people's timelines and it says "date left NVC" and "received by consulate" with like a day in between! So I guess they're just lucky it goes quickly or I'm interpreting that wrong...thanks for your encouragement!

yeah it's hard to know for sure lol i was told buy NVC that my package was shipped on 7/2 but it was actually shipped 6/30 (i know because it was received by the embassy on 7/6 and there wasn't even a DHL tracking set up for 7/2 lol!) so there's also a possibility that your date could be off by a couple days. please keep us posted!!
