Great news, we got approved!!!! We had our interview on July 9 in Paris. I wasn't able to make it on time but i was with his family in Portugal. He said that it was really easy, they only asked basic questions. Things about us like how we meet, who i was. The interview itself was wuick and easy. Just had to wait 3 hours to get called to all the diff windows.

I jumped the gun and assumed we'd be able to schedule it this week. I will be in France with my fiancé from August to December anyway, I was just hoping to get it out of the way ASAP. Anyway, hopefully we get this cleared up next week, and I learned my lesson: don't assume things will go as planned when it comes to immigration! Haha.

And that's the thing: nobody told any of us French/American filers either that it wasn't okay to schedule the interview prior to receiving packet 3. :( If you're at all unsure, please check with your embassy.

I see :( well I'm hoping the same doesn't happen to me as what happened to them... I've just read so many times that it's okay! Does calling the embassy help? I know sometimes they don't help at all with questions they seem to be slightly clueless sometimes.

Well goodluck to you hopefully you can get an interview soon and a secure one considering you are the same embassy as that incident

I'm glad to be here too, I'm an early May filer but the May filers have no spirit, so I'm joining you guys.

NOA1 - May 5, 2015 (Email on 6, Harcopy on 9)

Well interview is coming up fast. Wednesday morning in Sydney. I live in adelaide so have to fly there tomorrow afternoon. As a cruel twist of fate I have a job interview by phone a couple of hours before the consulate interview. Funniky enough, I'm more stressed about the job interview so it's keeping me calm about the visa interview. Good luck to those who have interviews coming up soon. Kxx

Another frustrating, yet hopeful week for us, as I just called NVC and they said that the case was received but then said there's still no case number. When I asked how long that would take, she gave me another "4 weeks." Getting so bummed! Anyone else experiencing hold ups at the NVC? I know some of you have had longer waits, so I'm probably just being impatient again.

i doubt it'll be 4 weeks before they assign a case number. did they say when they received it? from what i've seen, the case numbers are usually assigned the same day, or within a few days of receiving it.

either way...i would just keep calling. once in the morning and once in the evening, until you get your case number. the day i got my case number, i was told in the morning that it wasn't there yet, and in the evening that it was received 2 days earlier, and the case number was assigned the same day lol. sometimes it just takes them a while to get all the systems on the same page.

Oh, that's reassuring! Thanks for the heads up, I'll try again this evening when I get home and see if there's a case number assigned. I've been following your timeline, just because we had NOA2s around the same time, and I see you're case is at the embassy-- so exciting!! Can't wait to be that far along after all this pesky NVC business!

From the timelines that I have seen, it usually just takes about a week top before they process them and send them off. I spoke to an NVC official and she stated that once they receive the case, they simply apply a case number and ship it off to the embassy. She said it's not long at all for K1's before they are out the door again. I hope this helps but you will be fine, at the very least you now know that your file is at the NVC and not between USCIS and NVC limbo lol.
