APRIL FILERS AFTER NOA2 - NVC (CSC)

My petition left the NVC yesterday, so I'm attempting to fill out DS-160. However I'm stuck:

It asks to "Provide information on all U.S. visits" How detailed should I get? I have been down there 14 times to visit my fiance within the last 6 years, plus various other daytrips/weekend trips to north dakota for shopping etc.(not to see him). So I really don't know what to put.

Side question on a specific visit: I went down to California May, 2013, and we went on a 4 day Carnival Cruise to Catalina Island and Ensenada,Mexico, how would I document that as a visit to the U.S.A.?

when my fiancé was filling out that part he was also unsure what to do because he's been to the states so many times. somewhere he found official instructions that said it only needed to include the five most recent visits, or visits in the past year. if that ends up including the cruise, you could just say it was a vacation stop.

You got your case number pretty fast! I waited two weeks until yesterday and called, NOA2 on June 12, and they still don't have our case in system yet! But that trick of the tracking! Once I get my case number I'll be tracking it!

I just called NVC (got through on the first call and was on hold for only about 3 minutes, who knew they could be so fast?? ) and they have received our case but will take "up to four weeks to send instructions". In other words, I'll be calling back next week to see if I can get my case number .

My NOA2 date was June 10th at CSC so it took 16 days to get to NVC.

congrats! That's funny because I've called twice so far and was on hold less than a minute the first time and less than 4 minutes today haha. awesome news!! my NOA2 date was the 11th, so maybe they'll have my case by monday! I'll definitely call back every day next week until I get it! hehehe

That's sounds like that I'm going to get mine soon too!! My NOA2 was on the 12th! The thing is I do oversea's call and it's pretty expensive!!!

If you're worried about the cost of calls, try calling the week after next week! The most important piece of information you need is your case number, and most likely next week all they will be able to tell you is that they have received your case, and you'll have to call again for your case number. Try holding off for a while if you want to make less phone calls, which I know it's tempting because we all want to hear our case has made any kind of progress!

I checked the CEAC tracker today and it showed "Ready". What does "Ready" mean? The attached thumbnail links to a screen shot.

It just literally means that the embassy has received your case and are ready for you to be interviewed.

If you use a smartphone then try downloading the magicjack app, I used it to phone the nvc from outside the U.S. for free to a U.S. landline.

You don't need to purchase any of the premium add ons, just the basic app.

Thanks I know ALL the dates that I've been down to see him, the problem is I couldn't begin to tell you the times I went to the U.S. for the day or the weekend just for something to do. The cruise is tricky because I think I'll have to log it differently (Probably as two seperate visits, may 23-28, 31-2, since we left the country) or log it as one and if they ask about it tell them I was unsure as to how to log it. It was not within the last 5 visits to the U.S. or in the last year.

Any idea if you need mothers maiden name or married name?

I was still left slightly confused about the whole ds-160/260 thing but I found some packet 3 instructions for my embassy (juarez) and all I saw listed was ds-160 which is really confusing to me since 160 is for non immigrant visas yet We had to schedule the appointment under the immigrant visa section on the next website.

ANYWAYS, I haven't recieved packet 3 yet but since I'm in a bit of a hurry because of my pregnancy we decided to fill out ds-160 yesterday, make the $265 payment and schedule the interviews. ASC is August 12th and interview is August 13th, thinking of doing medical on the 11th. Very excited to finally have all that done ?

Now to organize and gather all the paperwork my fiance will need for the interview!

DS-160 is correct since the K1 is technically a non-immigrant visa. Also, we have the same interview date! Fingers crossed for us all.

Just got off the phone with the nvc and they told me they had not received my case yet. She told me that I should give it 30-35 days and to call back on or after July 22nd. I received my NOA2 on June 15, 2015
