i WILL have that problem with my xbox, but i figure on buying a tv that supports NTSC and PAL.

cheers

Teddy

That's the point. You can only buy them on import. The average USA shop only stocks NTSC compatible TVs.

My UK store brought Toshiba TV has auto select for Region / PAL / NTSC...its pretty old now, i figured it wouldnt be THAT hard to find a model that does both?

Sorry for the ignorance there because it would seem very american to not even entertain the possibility that some fruity Euro Liberals want to run their inferior equipment on their tellys ;)

What about the converter devices? Any good suppliers of PAL/NTSC equipment?

My TVs in the UK were NTSC/PAL compatible. It isn't like that here in the States I'm afraid. The converters are around $300-$400 a piece. Another option is that you can try to burn the DVDs onto a disc via PC and play them, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

It's a pain unfortunately.

Took the advice mostly* to heart, I got rough quotes from Excess baggage, I've put nearly all my old games systems on ebay.

(*Well, nearly all systems except ps2, there may be a work around so i've been told, if not, ill use some of my $$$ im saving by selling stuff and costing less to move to buy a good PAL/ NTSC converter)

I found a rough price target to work too really helped be ruthless..."is the stuff worth all the hassle and money?"

It was hard, but I do feel better for it, its true. I did buy a NTSC xbox and order a couple of my favourite games ever...but still, when my PAL xbox goes, that will be more than enough to pay for it!

It's certainly made things easier, all i need is a multisystem dvd player...(not that expensive looking around) and my dvd collection is taken care of.

Maybe not as drastic as cuts as some here would have made, but it makes sense when you look at it.. Ive been harsh elsewhere to make up for basically what looks like all ill be shipping is a few mementos, important docs, clothes and a dvd collection.

Thanks a lot to everyone here who had suggestions and listened to my rambling (sorry to the OP for the thread hijack too  )

Thanks,

Teddy
