hello guys,

I am just starting my case with NVC . From tomorrow m gonna start paying the fee and send my documents. Do u guys know how long will it take time to complete my case at NVC and for ways to consulate in Nepal. Event hough they are saying top priority to Immediate relative to US citizens doesn't look like they doing anything. The US embassy in Nepal also didn't accept my expedite request. If anyone is same boat please let me know if you guys have any information. Thanks .

Hi,I m also waiting for mine appointment letter and other stuffs like packet 3 and 4 but haven't received it yet. I don't know how long it will take, I m frustrated now,I don't have any idea abt Nepal embessy. It sucks to wait this long.

I suggest you not to expedite the case as its useless.. On may my case was approved for expedite but it seems its more time consuming if you expedite. When we contact nvc says they send file to embassy. when we contact embassy they say file is not in embassy they havenot got it.. its been almost 2 month so expedite is useless... They dont let people go inside embassy to inquire about the case. We need to call one number and that number its not useful. Luckily once we were able to get in and they told is.. if you have expedite and if they get file suppose july 14th than interview will be on august end..... but i see in this whose case was not expedite and whose case was complete through NVC got their interview date much much earlier...

also a quick one once all the process is completed at NVC and send to consulate. Do the applicant has to pay anything in Nepal? do NVc make appointment or do we have to schedule appointment by ourselves. Based under IR1 category

There is nothing to pay at the consulate, if the fees are paid to NVC. There is a fee for Affidavit of Support of $120 and Immigrant Visa (IV) Application fee of $360, that is paid online to the NVC at the CEAC website. It is normally paid before the case is complete or the interview is scheduled. After that there is only the Immigration fee of $165 that is paid online to the ELIS website after the interview approval and passport is received. That is for getting the green card in the mail at the US address. You can pay that before you depart or within one year because the temporary green card will expire. The interview is scheduled by the consulate and sent to NVC and the NVC will send you an interview letter with the date and list of documents to bring. You can call the NVC to see what the date is if you didnt get the letter/email yet. I think calling the NVC is the only way you can get things moving faster. I honestly think we made more than 20 calls to NVC. I think that can help but maybe its just luck.

Anyone know the best way to contact the embassy for inquiries? Would it be by phone or email? Cus I find when I email them sometimes they don't reply or they send a response that doesn't answer my question. And when I try to call during their working hrs it says they're closed .

Also, there is a fee for the medical. It is 12,000 Rupees for the first day and 7,000 Rupees on the second visit. This was for the vaccinations and the exam. I guess the cost can vary depending on what you have already completed with the vaccinations. So thats about $200 in fees for the medical. That needs to be done prior to the interview.

hi, are you also waiting for your interview date?? when did you get your NOA2? me on the same boat ..its been over a month after NOA2 and no update even if the case tracker says READY to be scheduled for the interview.. Edited July 13, 2015 by sophiM
