Hi everyone,

I just saw my fiance off tonight at the airport (needless to say, times are rough right now)...anyway, I am wondering what the NOA1 and NOA2 stands for?? And I've been reading all sorts of different things about processing times, but does anyone know if the process will be prolonged if my fiance and I lived overseas (in Japan) aside from his native country of South Africa? One lawyer we spoke to says this will make the process longer but our current lawyer says it shouldn't be a problem. Please advise.

And anyone who is processing at CA service center and whose fiance is from SA, please email me and tell me your story! I have no idea really how long this is all going to take and it's killing me...

Thanks!!

* NOA 1 - Notice of Action - is a letter that you get from the Service Centre, stating that they have gotten your petition and will start processing

* NOA 2 - Notice of Approval - it's self explanatory. You will get it when the USCIS approves your petition

My fiance and I lived in Japan for 3 years. All that I had to do, was to get the Police Certificate from the closest Japanese Consuate after I came back to Indonesia. I got it in within 1.5 months. It wouldn't be a problem at all.

As for the length of getting the K-1 Visa process, it varies. But brace for 6-9 months long of process even though some couples could get lucky in getting their Visa in less than 6 months.

I know how you feel right now... but be brave, and good luck. If we can do it, then so can you :)

When I decided to get the K1 I searched the net for answers. Thats how I found VJ.

I was so jet lagged when I got back from seeing my girl that I read this board for 4 days on and off.

Its daunting at first but if you keep reading you will understand more and more.

Get the japan police reports for both of you asap.

Oh and the FEDEX tracking page has become my new best friend! :)

Thanks for reading! So many don't bother and just fire away question that can be easily researched. Best wishes!

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

Best advice ever! :) Might sound obvious, but... in a lot of cases, apparently it isn't!

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png
