We have a Sam's membership...sort of like Costco. There are lots of items that we like to buy there that, like you said, more than make up the membership fee. We get a discounted membership for having a lot of us at school who sign up. Anyways, the things we use a lot of we usually buy there instead of regular supermarkets. My favourite is cheese. Shredded. We use a lot of that. Eggs. Another good buy. When we get in our new house and we can avail ourselves of the new kitchen, we plan on stocking the pantry from Sam's.

Ditto on the coupons for items we hardly use. No point in buying an item just because I have a coupon. :)

On Sam's club, can you get normal size products or is everything bulk size?

Some of it is bulk size. Sometimes the product is three or four regular sizes in one bundle. Those are the ones I like. Items such as pasta (when I don't make my own) is great for us in bulk. Items such as tuna, cereals, etc. are sold in bundles. It might be a good idea to take a walk through one before you buy a membership. I think they let you have a one day membership for free so you can decide if it's what you want.

Everything is usually larger or bundled. example..... I use sensodyne toothpaste. It's is a package of 3 tubes (larger tubes). But I basically 50% of what I pay in the store. So I just stick the extra tubes in the cabinet. Some things are not cheaper at these stores (soda for one).

I have the $100/ year for the Executive membership. I get 2% back on everything I buy. Plus I have the Costco American express card (no annual fee) that is both a membership card and Amex card (my pic is on it). I get another 1% back for that. These cover my $100 fee so my membership is free.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

p.s. plus, that is the card that we got for Ana. no hassle as it was a "second" card going off of my credit history. but now Ana has her card and can do the shoppping there and mostly anywhere else. for places that do not take cc, she can use the atm card.

I use coupons about 50% of the time.

Here in Oregon.. Safeway has double coupons for manufactures. If you go to Albertsons you can use any coupone including competitors. soo... with some time on sunday.. or tuesday food day newspaper advertisements.. you can locate normally a ad coupon for manufactures item .. and use the double coupon at albertson and get even a better deal

With careful looking.. I have found.. a instore coupon from like fredmeyers.. balance nutrition bar INSTORE coupon for 69 cent a bar reg price is .99. take that coupon to albertson with a manufacture coupon that was in paper for $1 off 2 so that would be actually and then using the double coupon from safeway I could get up to $2 off (double of up to $1) so breakdown..

2 costing normal price of $2. using the coupons...

200-69= 131 131- 200=+69 so not only are you getting the two bars free. you can even get paid to be using one of the bars. Not all stores will double more than the price ususally it is just up to amount of cost. but key point is when using manufacture coupon you can use the double coupon.. then on top of that you can use the in store coupon... such as fredmeyers.. ..

that breakdown will be..

2@99=200 less 2/$1 off= free then get .69 off one. therefore basically paying you .. sometimes fredmeyers will have a limit of up to 4 items on the product so then you will not actually make the .69 but you will make $1.38

Takes a few minutes to do so. but once you see what you need or would like to try it works to your benefit..

Actually I just went online looked at the fredmeyer coupon for the week.. then I did a manufacture coupon search online... and I found within moments the coupon for the $1 off. You never know what you will find when you set your mind out to find what you want.

Kinda like a puzzle.. or a treasure hunt.. hehe
