Ok this may be a stupid question but whats is the i94?

In the old days the i94 was a record of your arrival/departure that they'd give to you at your POE. These days it's all entered into an electronic database you must retrieve yourself. This is an important document that will have every single time you've ever entered the US, and will offer proof when you need to AOS, get an SSN, even obtain healthcare.

Oh. My. Goodness. I finally just caught up on everything I have missed. I'm now freaked out about the next stages. It sounds more stressful than the wait.

Hopefully everything works out, Allie. Because that sounds like a disaster you want to avoid all together. Who knew this would be so difficult going in...

I know, misspearls. It's a mess! Sorry for worrying you :) if it makes it any better, this waiting isn't nearly as bad as that k1, LOL! Cause at the end of k1 you're together again forever!!! :) try not to worry too much right now! Taking it one step at a time makes the process more bearable. We were just freaking out because we were gettig pulled in all different directions about what to do next and were really confused. It's also not easy for Santy to not be able to work for several months. And waiting for the AP so close to our Ecuadorian wedding is also unnerving! But other than that, it's nothing compared to the daily k1 struggle- especially the tailend, LOL!

is he allowed to volunteer? Like at a church or something?

It is not the same as working, but it might keep him from going crazy in his mind ;-)

Oh he still has plenty he can still do lol! He's also allowed to tag along with me sometimes when I nanny since we go to their pool and whatnot, which is great :) he also likes wedding planning with me, so when he's home he'll do that or clean up, work out, talk to his family on skype, take walks, etc! He's pretty self sufficient, fortunately! :) sometimes he'll even do my laundry and stuff, LOL!!

Ps- the hard thing about him not working is not necessarily that he's bored. :D He just loves working! Carpentry is his thing, and of course we also need money, so that's what makes it tough to not be able to work for a few months!

He is lucky then :-)

I have a friend who is a carpenter and he is the same - loves his wood work and could not imagine doing anything else.

On the SSN issue; I'm lucky, I already got one from years ago,but if memory serves me right, you are free to pick your own office. I would suggest going to one that is near either a college or an international flight school. Both will have had numerous foreign students and most of them will have gotten SSN.

Than I'm also wondering about the next thing. You can get one if you are legally in the United states and holder of a visa. But if you get one after you're married isn't your K1 officially cancelled? And aren't you therefor legally in the country but no longer the holder of a visa?

Again no issue for me, but it may be smart to get the SSN before the wedding. It should be easier to just have the name changed if it's needed.

I've been so busy lately that I've barely had time to log in.

Well, my interview is Tuesday. I mean, it's SUPPOSED to be Tuesday, IF they let me into the embassy, because the US embassy just does not communicate and I have seen some people saying they needed to fill out a form of readiness and some people saying they didn't need to. Some people saying they were let into the embassy and some people like Chantuff9's fiancé who weren't let in.

I'm confused and I don't know what to do. The law firm we used told us the form of readiness was only for married couples. We contacted a senator to help us and a caseworker asked the embassy if everything was looking alright with me but the embassy responded they couldn't communicate anything for "security reasons".

Nice!

I guess I'll find out the day of the interview.

I'll let you know. I hope I'll get through and just be approved Tuesday.

Good luck walrusbaby! Hope you get through!! :) communication between us and all these government offices is rough, I agree!

Also k1 isn't expired until after the 3mo after entry, I believe! We've already gotten married, but he's still a visa holder until October. We went to the SS office yesterday and they told us it'll take 8 weeks to verify because his information came up as unverified or some #######. Sooo hopefully that's not the case!! We're calling today about it.

Hi guys, medical exam on the 3rd, interview on the 9th. wish us luck =) more worried about my fiance having to carry our 15 month old baby around throughout the whole process. they need him present during the interview, which doesn't make a lot of sense but we don't make the rules.
