You offered sound advice. But you shouldn't conclude that the "differences seem to be more on his side." You don't know his side of the stories. He's merely the one pulling the plug.

OP, I hope you 2 can work it out. The Visa is what all the struggles have been for. It is supposed to be the means to end the pain of waiting. I recommend the 2 of you reconcile your differences & then you come on the Visa. If you can't figure it out within 90 days, just return to your home country. And whatever you do, DO NOT OVERSTAY.

Wrong choice of words I guess, but yeah hopefully they can work through whatever seems to be the problem. Like you said, they've put all this work in, they've come all the way through to the last hurdle! Would be a huge shame if they couldn't work things out.
