Regardless if the Filipino has never married the Embassy requires it as they want to be sure he/she is free to marry. They do not care what the NSO document states. Just our experience.

Greenbaum,

Its in the Package 4 (interview requirements) that is sent to every CR1 / IR1 visa applicant after Case Closed. It contains the interview appointment time and date, Medical info for scheduling and a list of what to bring to the interview.

I could post the whole letter but need to redact my wife's info first.

Unless I don't remember correctly the "free to marry" docs were given to the LCR before they prepared our marriage license.

Again not to belabor the point, after we have been legally married in the Philippines for nearly a year as evidenced by the NSO marriage certificate, providing a CENOMAR at the USEM interview is kind of late in the ball game for CR-1 visas don't you think?.

I can see why USEM would need that doc for a K-1 but not for CR-1. That's what so puzzling to me.

So I guess I also need a CENOMAR for my 3 year old step-daughter? Or not? Better question I guess would be at what age would CENOMAR be required for either visa: 16, 18, 21, younger? I've never seen that one answered any where before.

18 and above. But, I played it safe and for my stepson who is 12 I got one for him.

Like you said, you never know what they will ask for.

Why does your P4 letter reference Cuba and you are a Filipino? Are you referencing this document because you will marry a Cuba?

It doesn't reference Cuba, but it lists every standard code that could appear and what those codes mean (In the codes Definition Section that you are referencing), that particular one (V) appears to be only for Cuba.

And I'm not a Filipino, I'm the USC (pasty white guy in the Avatar Picture) married to the Filipina.

Your teaching me something new. I am not well versed in the I-1CR processing and therefore I sort of stay away that topic. But, I like to read and learn so I can give back. Thanks for sharing.

Be careful as this might be a curve ball where your expected not to have to provide and (because the P4 says you don't) oppppps "Sir can I see your CENOMAR?" And your reaction is your jaw drops. Now comes the RFE and 2-3 more weeks of waiting.

Happy to share the full redacted letter with you, but 110KB limit keeps me from posting the pdf. If you want it, PM me an email and I'll mail it to you.

We have the CEMAR, so that's not an issue. I'm just not planning on going back to courthouse for my divorce records (Also listed as F code).

I'll report back on the 28th once we are back at her home as to what they asked for
