How many of you have already submitted documents to NVC?

Did you submit Originals or Photocopies?

And, how long did it take to review your documents?

Thank You

dont send them original passport, birth cert, marriage cert , police cert etc yet. send photoocpies to nvc and take originals to interview.

But the question is, why is he asking me for Originals when NVC accepts Photocopies? I asked her if there is another way and she replied with " Either originals or Certified", but the NVC website says photocopies and bring original to interview. Why is she making me send originals?

only your lawyer can tell you why she is asking for originals. we can just share there is no need for originals at nvc.

you should ask her why and share with her your research shows you only copies are needed, and show her nvc site, if she really doesn't know the requirement are you sure you hired the right kind of lawyer :)

She is not what you want to hire, but I guess at the end 90% Lawyers are all like that, I really do not need her, I just need her for filing I 864. She has already delayed my case by 2 months.

Now she is asking for Originals, what if they get lost, I cannot go through the trouble again to obtain the documents again because I am not even in my country. I have a job in UAE and this where I have been living for a year now. I did tell her my situation but she said either Originals or Certified are accepted by NVC, she never mentioned the Photocopies. I will for sure mail her the NVC page and Documents requirements.

i empathize with you, if she has already delayed your case for 2 months are you sure you want to keep her? i-864 is not hugely difficult if you have had a regular income and filed your taxes regularly

This forum is very helpful and we can all collectively help you, even before she does send the i-864 i highly recommend you review it yourself.

The thing is that my case can get a little complicated, because I have lived in USA before for 7 years (over stayed my visitor's visa), then i left Usa on my own (No Deportation or Removal), so if you overstay your visa for more than 1 year, you cannot get another visa for 10 years. Recently in June I completed my 10 year and also I was arrested for something very minor in USA, the case was dismissed though.

So , why I have a lawyer is because, if at the interview the officer plays tricks or creates complications for me, then I will need an attorney to guide me further. And plus she had delayed my case by 2 months already, there is nothing more she could do now, unless she sends incomplete documents to NVC or maybe delay sending my documents.

I am almost there that is why I do not wanna remove my attorney.
