Yes, I did see that that phone is for sale, but not listed on Nokia's site as a current phone. I think there are a few points here. First, Nokia must not feel quad band phones are very important as they are only producing one or two on occasion. Second, it is probably a good idea for a person that is planning to travel and use a SIM card from a provider in another country to find out what frequencies are common in that country. I am traveling to Russia and have found that 900mhz and 1800mhz are in use, and I chose a company that had the greatest use of 1800mhz, one of the bands on my phone. Another choice is to buy a dual band 900mhz and 1800mhz phone specifically made for use overseas, but that is an extra expense that could be avoided. My triband Nokia works everywhere with the service company I went with.

I bounce all over the place, and I've found the safest bet was to have a quad band phone. Then you dont have to worry about who uses what band. With a quad band phone, it'll work in any country with GSM.

You can pick up a used unlocked quad band phone for about 50 bucks on ebay.

It may get you annoyed, but the way you worded your message got me very annoyed. You should of been a lot more tactful. You acted like a bowling ball in a china closet.

I notice that you went to ebay. Who the heck knows where the phone is from? can be from over seas and unlocked.

If you go to the web page you wont find it their under the Northamerica or it is not here in the USA. they have same phones but differnt model numbers in differnt parts of the world.

or they come out in other places in the world frist.

I dont trust Ebay one bit.. so much scams and rips offs..

I have Nokia 9300, it's a tri band. I live in Asia & it works well with most Asian countries on GSM - I use it for some travel. It certainly works in various part of Europe which runs on GSM also.

It works in the US (at least for text message & call) when I went to Chicago. I got signals for both T Mobile & Cingular the whole time I was there. Did not try the GPRS/data stuff.

Dunno about quad band requirement, well at least the tri band works for me.

It's not hard to find out the frequencies of countries you frequently visit. Google is your friend. I just think many people are lazy.

Just google "nokia 6270". It's a European phone that will work in the US. If you are scared of ebay just say it. It's OK.
