I can't believe there isn't a snow thread about yesterday, or am I the only one in NE? We got 30 inches yesterday. I've been out on and off for 3 hours and still haven't dug out the car. Yes, it's that lump in the pic - you can just about see the arial on the left. The other pic is out back on the deck up against the door.

Not snowed in but the storm canceled my flight to Chicago, and on to China to be with my fiancee for Spring Festival, I had to rebook for Sunday, and work with my travel agent in China to rebook my domestic flight.

Real annoying since the storm ended last night, and my airport is fully operational at the time when I should be leaving this morning with Clear skies.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Attempted yesterday to drive to DC, but took 45 minutes to reach Ellicott City (average at 5:45 am would be 15-20 minutes) and turned back, working from home.

Complex parking lot was plowed yesterday, but I was on the "wrong side" of the plow--so couldn't leave this morning either--and again WFH'ed.

Nowhere near as bad as yours but we had a driving ban in force for much of yesterday.

View from the front porch, you can see the kitty prints on the "path":

Yup, my Mom is snowed in in Vermont too  She is in Waterbury, Vermont and says that the back door is complete snowed shut and that while she can get out onto the porch from the front door, the snow on the front walk is waist deep. She measured it at about 40 inches! She has some good neighbors that cleared her driveway last night but in they got 2 more feet of snow since then. Fortunately she is retired, has plenty of food/beverage and hasn't lost power yet so she's good to go. Sorry, no photos.

As for us here in the DC area, it was pretty bad yesterday but clearing out today. My first vent for the day was that yesterday, despite the federal government opening up on a 2 hour delay and most other places being closed out right, my office was open and all employees expected to arrive on time. B*stards. My second vent for the day, if you are driving, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE CLEAN OFF YOUR FRIGGIN' CAR! I hate being on the interstate doing 65 and having a huge sheet of ice and snow come flying at me from the vehicle in front of me. I saw a UPS truck this morning that had what looked like the iceburg that sunk the Titanic literally teetering on its roof. I floored my car past it hoping it didn't land on my hood.

BTW, beautiful pics Mags!

My hubby has been working 12 hour shifts since Monday trying to clean up this mess in Virginia. He works for VDOT and they've had a helluva time with this ice and sleet.

God bless him Sharon!

I have to say that 66 was good to go even yesterday morning and completely clear this morning. The only thing I thought was strange was that yesterday the on/off ramps hadn't really been plowed so you'd be going 45-50mph and run into 5 inches of snow, sleet and ice without much warning! Needless to say I saw a few accidents and took my exit ramp VERY carefully.

My sister is about 30 minutes north of Brattleboro in Newfane. She got about 2 feet.

We bought a scraper for the car windshield – but coming as we do from Southern California it didn’t occur to us to buy a snow-shovel as well. Luckily I didn’t need one yesterday as the snow wasn’t ‘that’ deep – but I’m certainly going to be more prepared next time.
