 I'm no expert, but I think it looks good. I will have on about the same items and won't do written affidavits either (unless I change my mind in the next couple of days lol). Just for the trips we have included copies of the boarding passes showing seats together on the airplanes.

Good luck and speedy processing!

Thanks! yep, boarding passes or itineraries are good. I didn't realize until about 6 months ago that we had to send in all this stuff though! I tried to get past itineraries on Continental.com, no such luck. This reminds me to check my one folder though, I might have something on NYC.

i was just reading on the FAQ that it is a good idea to include a cover letter showing all the evidence you have included...

i of course didn't do this :P I am kicking myself that I didn't think of doing that...

It isn't a requirement but it might make it easier for the person who is going through your stuff...

oops, I just noticed that you did include a cover letter.... just ignore my post then

May I ask why many of you opt not to send affidavits / letters of family or friends with your application? It was my understanding that at least 2 are a clear requirement in the instructions, and we sent 4. Just wondering?

Thanks

As per the form I751 the affidavits are not a requirement, they are an option.

It is a personal decision to include them or not. I don't find it necessary to include them as we have enough other evidence to proof our marriage is legit.

I see. I guess I did not consider it optional as the instructions devote a whole long paragraph to the affidavits. But it's true I guess it just says "Examples of such documents are...",

Agreed, nope definitely not a requirement.

I could easily have my Mom and Dad do this, but how valid is it really going to be from a close family member???? Plus, it's up to THEM to prove that we aren't really married and living together happily. I have no fear, since we ARE living together and happily married. That's just my opinion on this though!

I agree with you, and it is for the exact same reason that we did send 4 affidavits - I'd rather put the "evidence" right in their face, than someone wondering and sending us an RFE. Oh well, to each their own, there's no right or wrong if both work

What about copies of lease/mortgage etc of the place both of you guys living in?

I still suggest to add affidavits. It's better to have a lot that none at all right? ^_^ Your list looks really good though. Good luck!

We rent a house from my parents so we have no lease. Should I have my parents do the letters and put in there that we rent a second home from them?

I know a few people who did not send in any affidavits and were fine, but I'll consider it, especially if its good to put in that we rent from them.

I know I will send every possible evidence. My opinion is that it's never too many evidences, but it can be too little and then you are in trouble.

crazieladybug,

Your list looks pretty good!

Your list looks fine, and no affidavits are required (in fact, this is the weakest evidence because any idiot can find 100 people to sign an affidavit that says they are married). Best evidence is financial entanglements of all kinds....
