Hahahahaha so basically you don't know if the food was unhealthy or not. Thanks for sharing your food stamp story of the day.

You missed the bit where I said it was all #######?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

imo, the nutritional value of standard grocery store items isn't something that people have much control over other than to be informed. like people who insist on purchasing organic who have no idea how the fda approves or disproves the organic label (what organic means to the fda). i think many consumers feel that the fda functions to primarly protect them and keep them informed on what exactly they're putting in their bodies. this isn't true. the fda provides boundaries and just as many loopholes for companies to skirt around. a good deal of food that is packaged as healthy, isn't.

True Dat! it's amazing what you find out when you actually sit and read the labels. Most "lowfat" foods contain enough salt to add flavor that will drop a tiny hippo. In the long run you're actually better off eating the regular food, just less of it.

And low fat doesn't equal low in sugar either. That's always a bummer.

we need fats and we need salt, it's all about balance. it would be nice if one could read the label on a product an get straight facts, not manipulated info to make a product appear to fit into a particular category for marketing purposes.

there is absolutely nothing better than baked goods from scratch ingredients. a batch of chocolate chip cookies made with real butter will knock out any box mix or roll of premade dough. and as long as one doesn't over do it the cookies from scratch are more healthy as well.

And most low carb foods have a higher fat content! It's nuts really.

It's all about moderation. Calories in and calories out and try to eat healthy whenever possible.

No one asks me anything. I simply swipe my credit card and that's it. Unless I spend over a certain amount, then I have to sign on the pad.

Easy. When they see you have a basket full of groceries they tell you your total and ask, is that an EBT card?

Are you asked this question when you shop?

No, I am a Puerto Rican woman. What does THAT have to do with anything?

Now to be fair, I shop at a grocery store where 90% or more of the clientele are black. I HAVE heard the clerks asking the women, "Debit, credit, or EBT?" as the swipe their cards. I can only assume that there are a larger proportion of black women who shop there using EBTs than at say Walmart, since they are asking. Perhaps it's just my WP, or maybe the fact that I have never swiped an EBT and the clerks know that, but I have never been asked. Nor would I be offended if I were to be asked. They are just doing their job, yanno?

So you are a black woman?
