marvin is not the only poster on this forum who posts topics about minorities, racism, or injustice. not just this thread. not just this month. not just the year. but constantly. you've gone from whining about marvin to saying that you have more knowledge of his life experience than he does. somebody has a chip on their shoulder, that much is for sure.

But yet mind number morons who have no clue about my experience claim I have white privilege

No, I called you a whiner because you are one of the first to cry racism, even when there is none. Not just this thread. Not just this month. Not just this year. But constantly. Here on VJ, for several years now.

Now I ask you... are you holding me responsible for what you are accusing my ancestors of? Seriously? Am I to blame if/when you were treated unfairly because of your skin color? And more to the point... have I ever treated you differently because of your color?

I cannot tell you what my ancestors did back in the beginnings of the US, except that for about the last 5 generations, we have never had anything to do with slaves. That's about as far back as I can trace things. And considering my family came not from the US nor from the UK, you may very well be off base in your allegations.

And what's wrong with comparing you to MO? You and her have more in common than you and I do, right? I mean, you must, since you both come from oppressed families. And based on your assumption that I am white and therefore the only struggle I had was getting the silver spoons out of my mouth to get them re-filled, you will never recognize that you and I may actually have more in common than you think.

Honestly, I AM better than that. I don't expect you to believe it, since I seem to be attacking you right now, nor do I expect you to like what I am saying. But if it helps you see yourself as others do, and gain from it, even if I am not "spot on" on everything I say, then I have done right by you.

My challenge to you is... try to see things around you without the race-colored glasses all the time. I'm not saying you haven't faced it, I'm just saying you have faced a LOT LESS than many blacks have in the past 20-25 years. Maybe you see yourself as a champion for those who have been treated unfairly, and that's not a bad thing, but you are going about it the wrong way IMHO.

Looks like you were wrong about me. Again.

You might want to go back and do a check. Race gets interjected into threads that have nothing to do with it, and it's not me. But for some reason, I'm the biggest race baiter here. It's like it's flat out ignored UNTIL myself or Janelle bring it up, then it's us playing the race card.

Your ancestor remark continues to baffle me. You just said that Duncan ancestors were oppressors and part of the master race. But you make it a point to say your ancestors weren't. How do you know what his ancestors did? To me, this was a baseless attack, and now you're making into something bigger because you can't just say it was wrong.

You seem to be projecting. I never said you had a silver spoon in your mouth. Nor did I downplay your struggles. I'm just pointing out how you called out a member on something you have no idea about, and now it's about race. My skin color comes into play since it's obviously something that's bothering you since you're talking about whining and the race card.

You challenge me? Of all the racist things that get spewed here, you're going after me? All the blanket statements about black people in general and you come after the other person of color. Why don't you extend that to the folks here who make everything about race. Cause that's just not me. If you fail to see that, I don't know what to tell you...

I think I understand where the disconnect is.

You think WP is an active trait. It's not. You benefit from it every day without realizing it because the reality is, it's woven into your day to day life. It's called the benefit of the doubt.

It's only real un your everything is racist loo loo world

Being light skinned or "White" is a desired trait in my countries.

In Philippines for sure, and I am sure in other Asian countries people try there best to bleach their skin or stay out of the sun to get more white.

I understand in Spain light skinned or the more white people in Spain represent upper class or royalty

It's because tanned skin people are usually laborers. Because they work in the sun, you know. Plus the obsession with youth. Tanning leads to wrinkles.

Yes, usually tanned means poor and undeducated. Except in USA where many white people want dark tans. Go Figure.

I get my tan on in the USA in the summer........

I really wish the term "white privilege" would go away because it's not accurate; but your bolded description here is probably very accurate.
