My wife had an interview this morning in Bangkok Thailand.

The case was completed by the NVC and file reached for the interview.

The interviewer questioned my wife about my household and number of people living.

Conclusion was written by the interviewer:

Petitioner, your income does not meet US Poverty Guidelines.

Please submit additional evidence of liquid finaiclal assets of $5520 OR consider a joint sponsor for these applicants.

Joint sponsor to submit - I-864 and I-864A for their spouse along with a copy of his/her 2013 us filed tax form 1040 and a copy of US Passport.

I dont understand what kind of evidence do they need on this of liquid finaiclal assets of $5520

Please help.

Thanks

First of all you need to underatand the amount you need to show you are above based on the I-864P Poverty Guidelines. Claiming your brother, Mother, beneficiary, and yourslef gives a falmily size of 4 which based on the I-864P you need an income greater than $30,500 to use round numbers. You can make up any short fall by using assets. An assets can be anything that can be readily converted to cash within a year, and does not cause an undue hardship when it is sold. So the USCIS typically excluded the primary residence and the primary vehicle. You must get an official appraisal. Not sure how they treat stocks given their volatility. You need three times the short fall--for a spouse--which based on the CO statement of $5520, you need to show assets--like cash--in the amount of $5520. If you cannot show proper proof for assets in that amount you will need to find someone willing to sign the I-864 formto help with the support of the beneficiary.

Clear to me as to your next step. Gather all documentation of assets that are greater than $5520 or ask someone who is willing to be financially responsible for the beneficiary should the beneficiary evfer seek means tested benefits from the US government. The clock is ticking so get moving.
