So.... North Carolina sends their I-129F petitions to Texas but I have yet to get the NOA1. I checked my online banking and was surprised to see that the check had been cashed .... happy - but surprised because it was deposited by the California USCIS office...

So.... do all the 129F(s) get sent to CA? I figured if they took the time to open it and take the check out... that they would do the email notice thing... anyone else have any similar experiences?

All Texas and Nebraska service center petitions get forwarded to California so it's normal. The NOA1 will come via regular mail from CSC.

Most all I-129F cases get sent from Nebraska and Texas to the California service center for processing, sometimes cases get sent to Vermont to take up some of the load.

This has been the case for quite some time.

Give it a few weeks for NOA1, also if you can get your canceled check or view the markings one the reverse side of the check you ma be able to get your case number, WAC___ and check case status on the USCIS site.

You should receive the NOA1 in the mail pretty soon. Once you get that you can register for email notices and you can check on when your case file has been handled (called touches here).

Try to be patient. You have about a three month wait assuming no requests for evidence (rfe), no new laws going into effect or anything unusual in your case.

Spend your time acquainting yourself with everything on this site, preparing for her arrival and almost anything that will help to make the time pass quickly. You are now into the long and frustrating part of this journey.

Good Luck

In addition to all the above... they won't 'do the email notice thing' to tell you they've received your petition (ie there is no email notification of NOA1). You'll have to use the WAC number YuAndDan mentioned (by getting it off the back of your cancelled check or waiting to receive the hard copy NOA1 in the mail) to sign up for email notifications. Then you should receive an email to tell you once your petition's been approved, or to let you know if you're getting an RFE... plus you'll be able to log in and check your case status online.

I was able to get the WAC# off the back of the "online copy" of the check...
