I agree with the 2 others who said www.babycenter.com. I already post there in a couple sections, preparing for being pregnant hopefully soon.

I also use www.fertilityfriend.com and highly recommend it for any woman who wants to learn about their fertility patterns.

Now I know tons about ovulation, the menstrual cycle, and all the gruesome details about it, and just waiting to actually be pregnant so I can stop obsessing over it. :P

I feel like it's a different kind of visa journey. Before filing the K1 petition I learned as much as I could...now I feel I have done the same for getting pregnant. Now I'm just waiting...I sent in my baby petition and need it to be approved! :D

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

While it would be nice to have an area of VJ for this, I would never want to discuss some of the things that are involved with it all, on VJ. There are many bodily fluids and functions that have to be discussed when trying to conceive that I would not want to talk about here. LOL On babycenter.com, it's mostly all women and who totally understand what you are talking about, and use little codes for everything so you don't sound so gross. And even if you sound gross there, no one is shocked by anything.

Some people who go through the immigration process also have babies......

i think it would be awesome to have a separate forum for pregnancy/babies/children of visa families...

we have the one thread that is going strong, but it would be nice to be able to have an actual forum so we could split it up to be

general support

birth control

trying to conceive

1st trimester

2nd trimester

3rd trimester

complications

labor & delivery

postpartum

infant

toddler

dual citizenship processes and experiences

cultural differences in pregnancy, labor, raising children

photos/bragging

etc, etc, etc.....

whatcha think ewok??

No offense - BUT...there's not even that many VISA/IMMIGRATION sections on VJ!!!

And this is supposed to remain a site dedicated to IMMIGRATION issues, not babies.

these are just suggestions for different possibilities... there is something in common for the families on this site that those at other sites dont necessarily have... some of these women are still separated from their husbands as they go thru their pregnancy... some are waiting on AOS... some will have questions about how to do things here in america vs the country they came from... some will have questions about how to file the papers for dual citizenship for their babies...

not everyone who goes thru the visajourney will have children... thats why it would be a different forum, just like MENA or asia or europe or or or or or... so if you dont want to read or discuss children, you dont have to go in... but often times, the visajourney DOES result in growing families who might need a bit more support and help than someone who hasnt been thru what we have can offer

I'm with you on that one, keltic. It would be useful aslo because many of want to stay in touch after AOS'ing and becoming citizens, and this forum being about family immigration, might do wel to have a little tiny weeny teeny itsy bitsy section just for teh expecting families. There are TONS of issues to do with babies and what, for example, if you have specific immigration related baby questions? It's such a big part of so many lives - why not embrace it?

We are after all a community, are we not? At least that's how I've always felt about the lovely people here on visajourney :)(F) hugs to you all(F)

I feel bloated... *eats more chocolate*

Jay Jay- noticed you mentioned your hubbie is out of work....any health insurance? Does anyone know how much it cost s in total to have a delivery via C section or natural birth here in the US? (We Canadians - I have no idea, I mean my first go round was free) But here? I'm thinking major $$$$$$$ even with health insurance.

So any clue? Just wondering?

A cesarean costs nearly twice as much as a vaginal birth ($7,186 average vs. $4,334 average in 1989 in the US).

http://www.childbirth.org/section/CSFact.html

i am not 100% sure, but i think that the cost now is closer to $10,000 for a C/S and $7,000 for a vag

Lots of money :D

God knows how people even do it, ey? But since Mr Bush is adament that this is indeed a "Christian Country", I'm sure the good Lord will provide...

*chortle*

Makes one wonder how other poor people have children, or if they should even be allowed to have children at all! My family lived in a house with no roof on one of the rooms until I was one year old, and went on to have three more children. We were so broke by the time I was sixteen that my father went bankrupt - but still, I'm an articulate and intelligent lady and I'm glad I'm alive. Life is uncertain even when you think it's totally certain anyway...

To be honest, I think there should be a health system here similar to the one in Canada, or the UK - you have to wait a while for certain procedures but they do get done in the end. Having had numerous experiences with money hungry American "health institutions" I honestly don't think, given the choice, that I would choose to have a child in this country with or without health insurance (notice the bitter tone of voice? :P), but this is where I am, so c'est la vie.

Plus there'll never be a public health system here when the government is hell-bent on spending untold trillions of dollars on a "very important" war designed to control a country far away that should be allowed to recover on it's own terms, within it's own very unique and special culture (which is not Western, but neither should it have to be as far as I'm concerned - live and let live!)

On a more constructive note, for those without adequate health insurance, there are various very good programs designed to help families expecting children, or who have children. WIC is a great organization that supplies the needs of mothers and infants. Then you have planned parenthood, who will help you with birthing arrangements and pre-natal care. Also in a great number of cities, you have free clinics and there are docs out there (still!) who are prepared to help people for the love of the job, rather than the almighty dollar. So all is not lost - these are mentioning but a few of the options out there.

:)

We're trying to conceive, too, and I think a little forum for new families and/or "prospects" would be lovely. There are forums on VJ dedicated to much less important topics, after all.

We're trying to conceive too...

I got recommended to a website, but it seems like a huge place. I think we should start a thread, it would be cool, because we already have things in common.

Whatever you guys decide, let me know.

JayJay, I am also in the waiting period. I wish it could be known sooner!! I just got started on the prenatal vitamins. So we'll see how it pans out. Should know by the end of this month... so please you all keep your fingers crossed!!!

I know when you want to get pregnant it's so wonderful and easy to get carried away with the whole thing but... it is a fact that stress can reduce your chances of getting pregnant so keep it light people :)

I'm too old to have another one but...

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .
