My fiancé just got an email from the U.S. Embassy in Australia about our interview date and it is set October 27. Happy to have an interview but disappointed because a lot of US/Aussie interview dates have been within a month of their visa being received by the consulate and ours is so much longer :( our visa was received by the consulate August 3. any idea if you can bump it up sooner?

Wow!! Oct 27th!! That is crazy far. Is the embassy in Australia that busy?

It doesn't hurt to ask for a sooner appointment. I tried with South Africa. I asked for an August appointment when we emailed packet 3 but they didn't even acknowledge my request in the reply, lol. They just said your appointment is Sept. 17 and had the interview instructions and medical instructions. Didn't hurt to try

Good luck!

Luckily its not difficult to get new documents. What does concern me is the affidavit of support I sent him back in June. It costed me 140$ to send it to Algeria. I just keep praying I don't have to send in a more current one when we finally get an interview.

honestly..who knows!! like i said other people got their interviews within 1 month of their "consulate received" dates and that was only in june and july so i have no idea why we are so far away, its such a shock! it also falls outside of our NOA2 validity dates by TWO days!! so we emailed to tell them that, and their reply was to write a letter back to them signed by the petitioner requesting that our NOA2 approval be extended to accomodate our interview date..how bizzarre that we have to ask that!

Just got a reply email from the U.S. Embassy in Luanda that our docs arrived today. CEAC is still showing 'in transit' though. The Embassy said they would be contacting him soon to verify and gather documentation. I just DHL'd over this lovely organized notebook of documents so that he's prepared for his interview.

Now if I can just warm up my fiancé's extremely cold feet right now. He's so terrified of coming here and not being able to find a job that he's starting to second guess our plans. I know it's normal and this is such a massive life decision. I'm just trying to be supportive and understanding but it's scary to think that he could back out at anytime because of fear.

Please keep us in your thoughts as we're almost at the finish line.

Our K1 journey

  • August 30, 2014-met in Spain, fell in love (L)
  • March 2015-he visited me in the U.S.
  • May 22, 2015-we went on vacation together and signed our I-129F docs
  • May 27, 2015-submitted I-129F
  • May 28, 2015-I-129F received in Texas lockbox
  • June 1, 2015-NOA1 received at CSC (email & text) :dancing:
  • June 2, 2015-check cashed
  • June 5, 2015-NOA1 letter received
  • July 10, 2015-NOA2 (updated on USCIS case tracker app) :dancing:
  • July 20, 2015-NOA2 letter received
  • July 28, 2015- Got case #!!
  • July 31,2015 Case left NVC
  • August 10, 2015 Case at embassy
  • August 14, 2015 Case "ready"

I'm really sorry to hear about his loss! I hope things will be okay in that regards. Strongs!

Yay! That's great news. My interview was that date! But I had to wait and postpone due to flight arrangements. So now I'm on the 29th. Medical I'm doing in Cape Town. It's closer to home for me. Can't wait to hear your good news! Glad you surpassed the DS 160! Happiness everywhere. It's wonderful!

Hi Berince,

Hope everything is going well for you!

Everything feels real now, lol. He booked his medical in Johannesburg for Sept 7 and 8th. The receptionist said after the medical it takes 10-14 days for the documents to be processed by the US consulate. I wonder if thats true. lol.

Hi

I attended the medical, the following day Packet 3 arrived (just telling you to attend the medical and complete the DS160 and readiness form), I completed these on receipt of the letter around the 23rd July.

Packet 4, I may be wrong is the interview letter, completed paying for the interview, paid for the courier and bought my train ticket :)

Perhaps our October wedding date is achievable (L)

Hey Van.

All I can say is this. I land on the 22nd of September. My medical is on the 23rd and 24. They're couriering my medical stuff to the Embassy and should hopefully arrive on Monday or on Tuesday, the actual day of my interview. Processing? 14 days you said that woman said? We will see. All these doctors are driving me nuts with there own opinions. As far as processing goes, all I know is that if the doctors find something wrong with you, it delays results. But if all looks good, then I don't see what the hold up could be.
