I called today the USCIS again (after I waited the 45 days more they suggested the last November) and no news yet.

I also filed a service request online on their website the other day, but it said I should expect some answer for February 8.

Now, because they are over 8 months since I applied for the Form I-485 and my last update is still "fingerprint fee received..." (on May), I'm evaluating to contact a congressman. Can someone help me with that? Those are my questions:

1. Should I (alien citizen) contact the congressman or my wife (U.S. citizen)?

2. If I contact the congressman via email, what info should I provide to him/her?

Thanks!

You and I both are at the same status, if after the background checks were completed and the date updated against your i485 but nothing more than "fingerprint fee received" then you will more than likely get a NOIW, unless at the time (more than likely around early July for a May case) it updated to ready to be scheduled for an interview. You should have talked with a tier 2 officer and ask when your case was transferred to your local office (in the area you live) they may still update your case and give you an actual interview, however case by case it works differently. I was advised that I should hear something between month 6 - month 8 and month 8 is tomorrow (1-20-16) I did call early January and was advised of my case transfer date from MSC to my local office and when I asked about the normal processing time frame I was advised they are allowed up to one year to make a decision on the case. I have checked my local office and my date has yet to come up. If the processing date has passed from when you submitted your case you should then submit a service request and then contact your congress person. Check your local office here: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do;jsessionid=bacXD1OC9RCyFagQNRyeu but remember than any RFE's or service requests can slow down the process as per the advise I was giving by a tier 2 IO at the USCIS customer service center.

You can however contact your local congress person or have your spouse do it, on most congress persons website it will have a link to "help with a federal agency" however all sites may be different but most will offer a service to help you out.

Hope this helps.

I filed my service request on Jan 6, yesterday Jan 19th, it got assigned to an officer. On the USCIS case status tracker, it says that on Jan 19, they sent a response to my service request, and then right after that, on Jan 19, the service request was completed and closed. Tried to ask USCIS for more info over the phone, Tier 1 officer said that such information is only available to the particular officer who handled my service request, and that I would have to wait for physical mail from USCIS to find out what the response to my service request was...

The latest update on my AOS is still "RFE response received on June 22". Because there's no update on the case, I have a bad feeling the service request response is another RFE...... Very frustrated at this point.

I wouldn't bother with a congressman. Depending on the local offices, some are really backlogged, and for some of them without an interview sometime people wait 1-1.5 years.

My advice would be to check your local offices processing dates at the link that beejerson805 posted. If your local office is processing past your date, file a service request stating that you're outside processing times for your office. If this does nothing, contact Ombudsman with the same reasoning, that's what they're there for.

@beejerson805: what's a NOIW?

I'm gonna explain shortly my situation. I sent the application for the form I-485 in May (together with the I-765 and I-131, they got approved months ago, got my EAD card and I'm working, so no problem about that) providing bunch of documents more like bank account statements, credit card statements, wedding pics, insurances in common, etc...I didn't get any RFE and I followed all the steps correctly (last thing the biometrics appointment in June).

I already checked my local office processing time months ago and it says 4 months (plus there is also a specific date on July 2015). So, I called the USCIS the firt time in October (5 months after my application, over the 4 months of the office processing time) and the lady said me that the office was late on the applications and they were processing the April applicants at that time. She ended saying to wait other 30-45 days more, then try to hear for some news again eventually. I waited that time and called again in November (because still no news). Another lady said me pretty close the same things. So I waited over 30 days again ending up with over 8 months from my application. I decided to file then a service request online the other day, plus the day after I called the USCIS again without get any news.

That's why I'm considering to contact a congressman. Probably it's time to do it.

Plus if I'm not wrong, the medical visit I had during my visa (K-1) process lasts 1 year. If so, it will expire in 2 months pretty close and I don't wanna end up having to get another medical visit, etc just because they are being kinda lazy on processing the applications.

It did update but I'm not sure when, I was traveling all weekend and hadn't looked at it until after I received the notice today. The notice is dated the 19th.

No, Our status was stuck at "Fingerprint Fee Was Received" until is change to approved. We never received anything regarding an interview or scheduling of interview. In early December I submitted an service request online and received a response about 3 weeks later that said an someone was reviewing the case they would contact me in 60-90 days. That was probably 4-6 weeks ago. If you haven't already I'd contact them.
