Just wanted to follow up with everyone here because I'm seeing how a few people are getting RFEs - my husband and I went for an infopass appointment yesterday in NYC (a block away from where we got married!) because we really wanted information about our RFE and I wanted to get answers directly from the horse's mouth, so to speak. I've been reading on here how sometimes infopass appointments are useless and not helpful, especially regarding RFEs, but I would just like to say that in our situation that was just not the case at all. They were SO helpful.

We spoke to an officer who was so friendly and very happy to help. She went over our RFE (which was mainly for the i-864 and because of my husband's birth certificate). She looked at the copies of what we sent the first time around and then looked at our file on the computer and said that we were a pretty straightforward case and told us how to respond to the RFE, what to include and made a note on our file on the computer about how we came in for more information and help.

She was very helpful, answered all of our questions. We also asked, because I've seen conflicting information on here, if because we got the RFE for the i-485, if they stopped processing the EAD/AP and she said no and that we should still expect to be on track with that.

All in all, she was very helpful and put our minds at ease. So based on this experience, my advice to anyone who has questions about their RFE, book an infopass appointment. I'm so thankful that we did.

Thanks for that info. Guess its depending on who you get. Just a question if you don't mind. See when you book the infopass, do you select "information on services" option for an RFE?.

Yeah, I think it depends on the person you get, but my husband and I went into the conversation very friendly and were really polite and made her laugh a few times, which I think helped. The reason we chose when booking, I can't remember what it was verbatim, but it was something like "information on case status" or "questions on case status".

Hi everyone,

I am also a May 2015 filer and I wondered if any of you had already received any update of his/her status besides the initial one "your case has been received"...?

I mailed my application (I-485 along with I-765 and I-131) on May 2nd and they received it on May 6th. I had my biometrics done on June 1st and nothing has changed yet, on neither of my cases. I didn't get any RFE (so far...) so I was wondering if any of you was more lucky with his/her case?

Thank you guys :)

This is good to know. All I read is that the process stops temporarily the time they sent RFE.

She was very helpful, answered all of our questions. We also asked, because I've seen conflicting information on here, if because we got the RFE for the i-485, if they stopped processing the EAD/AP and she said no and that we should still expect to be on track with that.

Hi Everyone - This is probably a really silly question however I am a little confused how to complete the G-325A Form for AOS (yes still trying to get all paperwork together :)). Do I complete this in my married name or my now maiden name? Also at the bottom of the form it asks for me to complete Alien Registration Number and Name. Do I use my Maiden Name or Married Name? Thanks in advance for your help!

Have you legally changed your name on your passport? The name you should use is whatever your passport/visa state it is until you have changed your name on your legal documents from your home country or you have submitted for legal change in the U.S. (or both).

Actually, it very much does. The visa and passport are what she came here with, her legal name is on them. The marriage certificate may is a new document that is relevant, but also may cause RFEs (and has for quite a few other people on this site).
