UPDATE: I think she just got a kick out of making us feeling nervous, we've been approved! Thanks for all your support guys, I really was worried for a long delay there!

Congratulations Shana!

Shana - It sounds like you had someone that just wanted to be a ###### because she should. Once you get approved(I'm sure you will!) you should file a complaint against her. Even if nothing happens, it'll go on her permanent file. Too many people get away with abusing their powers just because they can in these offices. I know what you mean about the years of evidence, part of the RFE we got was for more relationship evidence...we lived together since 2009...Really? Lol.

In happier news... I woke up to see a text from 12:30am last night to check my status. FINALLY approved, dated May 10th(I called them yesterday the 11th and they couldn't tell me that?!). They totally skipped the step about updating whether or not they got my RFE AND they ignored my service request completely. Huge relief to me as my parents are coming in June, but the biggest airport is in Canada so we have to pick them up there.

Congratulations!

Thank you!

Seems so silly of me to be worried, she really got under my skin - which is what she wanted clearly! Glad to see it's been approved. Now to look into ROC to make sure I collect the documentation over the next couple of years.

Yeah, we have a joint bank account, it's been open for a while now! Joint lease, joint car insurance, joint health insurance, joint home insurance...we're very "mingled"!

I know it's a USCIS thing but having joint financial anything doesn't to me prove anything. They need to look up the word marriage in the dictionary and see what it says there. What USCIS are asking for is the basis for a financial partnership which you could do by setting up a company between best friends! Doesn't mean you would want to be married to them!

Financial arrangements do not constitute a marriage alone although I concede it does provide documentary proof of sorts to co-habitation.

As a society we are becoming less and less conventional so somewhere down the road these requirements are going to have to change before they get challenged legally.

Many young couples choose not to heavily intertwine financial information as there is increased independence. Agree with things like life insurance mind to ensure loved ones and children are taken care of. Most of the rest to me is superficial and in no way determines a marriage, I guess they don't look if it is a successful one it not... Just are you keeping under the same roof!

True, but then what would the process be? It would become some sort of quiz about the spouse, to the point where couples might fail if they have bad memory. I've asked my husband some of the intense questions some people get at a second AOS interview and he wasn't able to answer some of them - would that then make our relationship fraudulent? I think that the whole process should be some sort of step by step check - something that isn't so heavily dependent on documentation, but rather some more personal questions that isn't a memory game. I also think that it shouldn't be down to one immigration officer. One IO might have a bad day and it shouldn't be up to them to decide someone's future.

I can agree with the wanting for independence, my husband and I have a joint account for the boring stuff, but we have our own personal accounts for our own stash of money. My husband bought a PS4 with his own money, if he bought one with our joint account we would have to talk about it and decide together if that's what we want/if it's worth it. It's so much easier for us to be able to make those selfish purchases without worrying about making a dent in a joint account. Some obviously might argue the "what's mine is yours" argument, but I personally prefer our way of dealing with finances. Our IO was asking us "what do you buy with your own account?" as if it was the most bizarre thing to want my own pot of money!

First of all, congratulations! I'm glad the frustrations are finally over. How nice of them to not confirm your RFE *sigh*

If you don't mind me asking, what did you submit in your RFE? I have a feeling our IO might do the same to us despite all the evidence we've submitted over the years.

I know you were approved, answering anyways in case it helps someone else reading.

My CO must have been really picky too...Our RFE was pretty ridiculous for part, and the other part was my fault lol. The CO wanted a lease from our old apartment in Canada because we technically were on a lease until March 31st(we left Canada on the 23rd) so we were technically married for that lease. :wow: We ended up breaking that lease(friends with the landlord, luckily) in January though and moved in with my parents, so they just made up a quick letter and mailed it down to us. Kind of ridiculous in my opinion. Good to know that they do go through the files submitted with the K1? Lol

The part that was my fault was I got all the way through the K1 with my short birth certificate because they're the norm when I'm from, and the Montreal interviewer knew that. Wasn't as lucky for AOS.

UPDATE: I think she just got a kick out of making us feeling nervous, we've been approved! Thanks for all your support guys, I really was worried for a long delay there!

That is rather nitpicky! I was worried our IO would ask for the lease for our new apartment since she made such a deal about us not bringing it with us (despite it not being signed properly at that moment). At least part of the RFE was for a genuine reason! And thanks! :D

I know a lot of people who were approved have long since stopped looking at this thread, but I'm curious if anyone still around knows if my case status will say that my card is in production? I'm hoping it arrives before we move on the 24th!

Hi Shana,

Congrats with your green card approval after one year.

I'm in a very similar situation, maybe even worse. I filed my AOS in the end of May and got the first NOA on May 28th. Then we moved from Chicago to Denver in July. I got a "notice of potential interview waiver case" on Sept 9th, 2015, then no update since then. I filed my EAD renewal and it got delivered on May 2nd 2016, but still no receipt notice from USCIS after 14 days. Did you get receipt for EAD notice? I guess you did not get renewal EAD card since you green card got approval.

I'm really worried right now, it is deadly quiet for both my AOS and EAD renewal, I don't feel good.

I saw another girl who also lives in Denver with NOA1 date in early May and got AOS interview last week as well. So I'm wondering if Denver office starts processing May 2015 cases. Hopefully I will hear something soon.

Mine never did, just went straight to "card has been mailed" and then 3 days later updated with the tracking information.

Most get "approved" notification and "card mailed" and some get at least one or the other.

Thanks for the info! It's been 6 days with no update so I'm assuming it's just been mailed? Fingers crossed!

Thanks! I hear that if you don't get selected for an interview then it will take a little longer.

As for your EAD renewal, here's my timeline:

04.04.2016 - Package sent for EAD/AP Renewal

04.06.2016 - AOS Case Status Changed to "Interview Scheduled"

04.07.2016 - NOA2 for AOS Received - Interview Scheduled for May 11th 2016

04.13.2016 - NOA1 for EAD & AP Renewal Received

04.21.2016 - Notice saying old Biometrics will be used for EAD & AP Renewal

05.11.2016 - AOS Interview

05.12.2016 - AOS Case status update: Approved!

So I did get a receipt for EAD notice, have you tried calling them to see if they received your case? I would focus more on your EAD renewal for now, don't worry about AOS since Denver has taken their sweet time. They might have put you in the July 2015 pile since that's when you moved...but then again if you're not called in for an interview then that might be the reason it's taking longer. Hang in there!
