Although I am neither Arab nor Muslim, I *have* experienced racism first hand. Profiling isn't limited to Arab Muslims. I think the issue extends beyond a single group. People of all colors and religions have experiences and ideas to share that relate to the subject at hand.

No doubt, that's true, and I don't deny it. Would anyone admit to be prejudiced against Jews when it comes to the Arab/Israeli conflict and that's why we can't discuss it without flaming anyone who says something not pc toward Arabs and Muslims?

Probably not in your opinion. Because I don't think having an opinion about this topic constitutes a flame war, but you are decidedly not going to stop using inflammatory language to describe those you prefer not to hear from, so I guess there's little point in continuing.

I would flame anyone expressing bigotry towards Arabs, Muslims, Jews, Blacks, Hispanics, etc. Maybe I've been missing the point, because I thought we were talking about racial profiling, not the Arab/Israeli conflict.

I don't think anyone said they are prejudiced against Arabs, and I don't know of anyone prejudiced against Jews. Jewish people do not = the state of Israel.

People have every right to be bigoted. It goes along with freedom of speech. However, flaming is not a solution for it, it simply pits empty rhetoric against empty rhetoric. Do you have anything against enlightenment? If not, is flaming the road to enlightenment?

and you dont know anyone prejudiced against jews? let me introduce you to some of my professors. and groups of people living in bakersfield. and the guy who just attacked eli wiesel in san francisco. people are prejudiced on almost anything you can name

We are obviously working at cross purposes here. What is your definition of flaming? Calling out bigottry is flaming to you? And explain your comments re: enlightenment. What has that to do with anything?

I misused the word flaming earlier. Flaming is just posting insulting things, and I don't think anyone's done that here. I see it as a debate, and I do think that debate is enlightening.

I didn't say there isn't prejudice, to say anything of the sort would be extraordinarily ignorant. She asked if anyone would admit to being prejudiced and I said I don't know of anyone myself. I don't speak for the community, city, state, country, or world at large.

being in the british isles during "the troubles" allows a tiny bit of insight. but i still never, and don't to this day, feel compelled to harass every o' or mc name at the airport, nor do i feel it would have been very effective, even at the conflict's height.
