Hello Everyone,

Congratulations on getting approved or having set up your interview date.

I had a very naive question, especially for the ones who just crossed the border or are about you... Once your visa is approved and stamped.. and you are getting ready to cross the border, do you need any documents (other than your visa in the passport and the sealed envelope they give you)?

What i mean is, remember for your interview you have those HUGE files you must have prepared with all the documents, Skype calls, photos, etc etc etc..whatever your stuff included and made into those HUGE binders… for the interview and then you realize they don't need anything. LOL. So when you cross the border through immigration do you need this BIG binders or can you put it away in the BIG suitcases… I am just trying to pack, to leave and its becoming a nightmare. :girlwerewolf2xn:

I have 12 days and counting…..woohooo… hopefully crossing the border isn't painful.

Dwheels, I need you to point me in the right direction please. :goofy:

Our last name contains the Scandinavian vowel ø. Back when we did this process the first time, the Green Card and SSN card were issued with an o for the ø. All US records for over 20 years contain the o. With the 'new' machine readable passports, the vowel in the name has been transcribed to oe in the machine readable info line. We got NVC to recognize the importance of using an o instead of oe, and the CEAC site (including the DS-260) reflects the original Americanized spelling. Thought all was good. When the embassy in Stockholm sent an interview confirmation email, the name was spelled with an oe.

I sent an email to the embassy pointing out the name error and was sent a standard response of 'the name must be spelled like it is on the machine readable passport.' :protest: My better half doesn't want to battle this out with the consular officer, and we are wondering who we could possibly contact at USCIS or the Department of State to get an official statement on the matter to bring to the interview. This isn't simply a preference. There is a 20+ year history with the Americanized name for US taxes, immigration records, work history, financial accounts, etc.

Any ideas on who to contact? :help:
