I would call the NVC and ask them. Better to be safe.....if you have already submitted DS-260 then you can update it but it mgiht cause a delay - either way there will be... or better yet - apply for a new passport but tell them that you want the old passport back...take your old and new passport. But Call NVC and explain the situation.

Hello, Usman!

It's always good to see "old" VJ members. You might want to post this in a visitor's visa forum.

I would say the following to you: you should make a list with two columns on it. On one side, list all the reasons your mother has to try to stay in the United States (such as you are her only son, are there grandchildren, is she alone in Pakistan, is she hurting financially and you could help here) and then the other column with all the reasons your mother has for returning to Pakistan (she has other children and grandchildren there, she owns property there, she has a job there, etc.).

You are trying to figure out which list is more compelling. If the "stay in the US" list is stronger than the "return to Pakistan" list, then your mother might not be approved for a visitor's visa. For her first trip to visit you, I would suggest that she not try to stay the full amount of time she is allotted. By this I mean - if she is allowed to come for 90 days, then book her trip for 75 days - to prove that she will be faithful to her visa and return to Pakistan. I do not mean to be unkind, but you may need to be very particular because of your mother's country.

Best of luck to you and your mother!

Sukie in NY

Yes you need a new one because by the time you get a passport you may be expired. The wait for interview for Egypt is about 86 days after case complete.

No issue after DS-260 just take your old and new to interview its no problem happens everyday. But you must get a new one. I would do that now while you are waiting. You don't want any delays.

Quick question for the Canadians....is this what the police certificate for Canada should look like? Just want reassurance I have the right one!

http://www.eslteacherrecruiter.com/canada-rcmp-criminal-record-check/ - this isn't me by the way!

This is not what mine looked like. I live in Ontario and just obtained an OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) criminal records check. I believe that you only need the RCMP one with the fingerprints if you have any past criminal convictions. I'm not sure what province you are coming from though and if you can obtain a check from them.

I told the lady that it was for my US Visa and she said that this was correct?i live in Ontario. I mean I sent it in with the documents for the IV packet so I assume that its fine because they didnt say anything or send me a checklist back.

Oh I see yes, I should have read your signature to know that you had already sent it. I think you can use that one too. I just had my interview on Friday and all was good and I just used the OPP one. As long as it has a seal on it, it will be fine. Make sure all of your originals do (she felt every document to make sure).

Hey everyone..i have a question..On the p4 it list the documents u need to take to the interview....My husband sent the original AOS documents to nvc, on the list the code it has means nvc sent to embassy.. So i will be taking the photo copy of AOS to interview..DO u think that will be ok.

The civil documents I have originals which i will take with me, like police certificates, marriage certificates etc.

I am just worried about the AOS cuz i see everyone is stressing about original documents.. Please any advise would be appreciated..thanks guys.
