One Travel accepted my payment but after speaking with a supervisor they advised that I cancel the flight because the airline might have an issue with the card and his name not matching and at that point they are not able to do anything.

He told me I should call the airline directly and check their specific rules and based on their rules, to make a decision about the ticket. I'm just confused now! I don't want them to turn him away at the airport.

I did some research on the google and what I came up basically is some airlines could ask for the credit/debit card used to purchase a ticket but also noticed some people have got through by a number of ways, going to a local office of the airline and explaining and they could have you sign something or simply make copies of the card or send both sides of your card to the traveler with your ID copy to produce if they ask. If you have same last names then its unlikely to have any issues.

Now if you want to avoid that, purchase a ticket through a third party agency and not directly from the airline. Doing this will eliminate the need for the airline to worry about fraud because in case of loss the airline would not loose but the agency and they wont require the proof of the card since they technically did not sell you the ticket directly.

Having said this I am going to send the copies of both sides of my debit card and biometric data page of my passport to my wife if they would ask, but I have done this before with no issues. If you are nervous as I suggested before send him money and he will buy a ticket from hundreds of agencies there and they take cash.

Thank you for your research and taking your time to explain this to me. There seem to be options, and I imagine people have to do this quite often. I will take all these into consideration and make a decision. Do you buy one way tickets? I was also told that can cause some issues with companies because they are worried that they will be questioned for booking a one way ticket and the person is not a citizen. My husband has the immigrant visa so I don't see why they would need to worry. Thank you!

Yes I did one way as my wife has the same as your hubby visa. There is no problem with one way so long as its an immigrant visa, also student visas (non-immigrant) are not required two way as its not practical to have a return when you are travelling for such a long duration. I would think since there are quite a large number of people travelling from these countries, such issues should not arise. All he needs to say is that his is a green card visa(cause they understand that easily) even if it was someone very ignorant. I know so many who have travelled here in the same category and never had any issues. Good luck!

Hi Guys,

Need your help, Acyually I have got my case completed at NVC dated 04/27, after CC I requested an expedite at NVC. That request was just to expedite my interview date. I have got the follwing email from them

Dear Sir/Madam:

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your inquiry regarding the immigrant visa petition: XXXXXXX filed by XXXXXXX on behalf of XXXXX

The U.S. Embassy/Consulate General has accepted this case for expedited processing. This file will be immediately forwarded to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General. Any further questions concerning processing or the interview appointment date should be directed to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General.

Please note that the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General may still request additional forms or fees at the time of your interview. Please be prepared to submit any missing forms and pay any required fees at the time of your interview.

And on calling them I came to know that the interview will be scheduled by Embassy now. If that's the case then what was point in expediting my case?

I am super confused, because if I talk to NVC they say they cant do anything now as far as scheduling is concerned and I have not got anything from either embassy or NVC.

Please Help!

Till i understand this process, your documents will be sent to embassy..you can track this status on ceac.state.gov site.

Once those docs reach embassy you can then call embassy and ask them to schedule interview..

NVC usually ships a case a day or two after CC to the appropriate embassy. You could contact NVC again and ask if they sent the package to the embassy (they told me on phone if they sent it).

Or call your embassy, tell them you was approved for an expeditious process and that the NVC office told you to contact the embassy for an interview appointment.

That's what I did and my status read at NVC. Since you was approved for an expeditious process you may get your interview scheduled for this month.

I called Embassy, as expected they said they can't do anything unless they have my case from NVC. And NVC is telling they can't do anything as I have expedited my case so its the embassy who is going to schedule my visa dates and all.

Grrrrr....

Very Annoying. Then your case may be on the way then (if you received that expeditious letter recently). They usually ship with DHL and DHL is very good.

Finally the status changed to "In Transit".

Usually if someone's document is in transit, does that means that NVC has scheduled their interview date already ?

Since my case was expedition, I haven't got any date or anything.

Inputs appreciate!

Thanks

Himanshu,

Your case was expedited meaning NVC is NOT scheduling your interview rather your Embassy/consulate abroad. Now your case is on Transit, you will have to track it and once you see it has reached embassy you call them to schedule your interview. Yours is different from us who don't have expedite premium and we had to wait NVC to communicate with embassy in order for NVC to schedule us for the interview.i hope I cleared your question.
