You waited 1 1/2 years from cc to interview????? I feel disheartened :(

Yeah...it was really a hard time for me to wait.

From Uscis to Nvc n then CC thing took exactly 4 months. After it what I did fo 1.5years is to see VB every month.

It was worst feeling in every VB to see my PD nt current.

I think now I can cheer up n do hard for my interview.

Thanx fo understanding my pain.

Good luck to you too.

Oh the good thing is you are on the last step now. My PD is June 2013, USCIS took about 16 months to approve my I130!! Hardest time ever

I am now waiting for an interview date!

Hi can you let me know what the DHL account is for? IS it to track the documents from NVC to the embassy by any chance? If so could you please give me details too so that I can set up my own.

DHL registration is for you to choose what DHL facility you will pick your passport/visa after interview. However you won't be able to sign up until your file is at the embassy/consulate abroad.

I used the Ds-260 Confirmation # on the confirmation page. Remember you need to print the confirmation page also and bring with you.

Thanks Bloomfield...I eventually figured it out. I was filling out the form at work and didn't have my printed DS-260 with me. I eventually completed the process when I got home, and printed it today (Thursday). Thanks again

Hey there 'dwheels76"

Yesterday I recieved my interview date

CC April 29, 2015

Email received May 8, 2015

Interview date June 30, 2015

From what I can tall it usually takes 3 - 5 days to revieve your passport back with ones visa in it after the interview, is this correct?

I know it's not recommended but I am thinking I will book my flight to America for July 8th as we are having a big wedding celebration the week after and I don't want to miss my own wedding and i dont want to also pay double for my flight.. Hoping 8 days is a big enough window to ensure I have my passport as only going from Melbourne to Sydney. ...

Thank you and hope everyone gets their dates very soon!!! - Such a long and stressful process.

Brendan,

You can probably make this, but you'll be sweatin' it. You interview on a Tuesday, and for MOST of Australia, you have your passport in hand on Thursday afternoon or Friday of that same week (we are from QLD - and close to a major center). We interviewed on July 1st and flew out on July 15th. My spouse got her passport back on July 3rd.

Best of luck to ya mate!

Thanks this makes perfect sense, I live just out of Melbourne and will stay home waiting for the delivery and figure 8 days gives them a few extra to be safe. Thanks :)

Here is some recent data I've gathered for the Sydney consulate.
Interview Date Visa Received Days
2014-12-02 2014-12-05 3
2014-12-02 2014-12-05 3
2014-10-07 2014-10-09 2
2014-09-16 2014-09-19 3
2014-09-16 2014-09-17 1
2014-09-09 2014-09-15 6
2015-03-17 2015-03-25 8
2015-02-17 2015-02-18 1
2015-02-03 2015-02-06 3
2015-02-03 2015-02-05 2
2015-01-20 2015-01-21 1
2015-03-24 2015-03-26 2
2015-03-17 2015-03-19 2
Average 2.8
So, it usually takes 2-3 days to receive your passport after interview. What usually happens is you're approved (if successful) on the day, and the visa is issued and posted the day after interview. Sydney consulate appears to have a strict habit of interviewing on Tuesdays, and issuing IR1/CR1 visas on Wednesdays. If you stay within Sydney metropolitan area, it's possible to receive visa the day after interview. If you live in a metropolitan area or a non-metropolitan area close to Sydney, you can receive the visa 2 days after interview. For other areas, visa can be received 3 days after interview. In some cases the case goes into administrative processing and is delayed a week.
I haven't bought my plane ticket yet, but am planning to soon. My interview is on the 19th, so I expect to leave Australia the 22nd or 23rd. I'm contemplating whether or not to stay in Sydney after the interview, which may speed up my departure date. If your case is straight forward, then it's likely safe to book flights in advance. But, of course, there can be unexpected delays and it's up to you whether you're willing to take the individual risk. There's also the chance that you won't be approved at all...
