"At least 60 days" to review documents

The NVC site says to expect a 45 day review time. I've read a lot of posts here saying the review time is even down to 30 days lately, so when I got this letter this morning, I was so disappointed. AT LEAST 60 days? :clock:

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your documents on 28 – APRIL – 15.

We are currently receiving an increased number of approved petitions from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. As a result, we are experiencing increased review times for documents received.

We expect it will be least 60 days from the date we received your mail before we complete the review of your documents. We will notify you when we review your documents.

We are working to reduce this processing time and we appreciate your patience.

i believe this is an automated email and hasn't been updated to the new review times. I called the NVC when they received my documents and the rep quoted 30 days to review documents now.

I got that same email last month. Then got a case closed 2 weeks later. I was also a bit upset when I got the letter, turned out for no reason. Hang in there, it will be over soon. For me, we got a two week notice for the interview. After the documents all got sent to the NVC, everything happened very fast.

*** Thread moved from CR-1 Process forum to the NVC forum, to conform to the topical matter. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I'm very encouraged now. We first began this visa process 8 months ago, and it feels like it's been years. I'm so ready to have my husband here and start a REAL life.

How did you learn when your documents were scanned? Did you call to ask, or do they send an email to let you know? I'm assuming the date they acknowledge receiving the package isn't necessarily the date they scan it.

They send an e-mail stating that they received your documents in such date, and then they tell you it is going to take at least 60 days:(

Here is the scan date to case complete spreadsheet...looks like the NVC is running under 25 days. I know we have gone from scan date to case complete to interview in less than the expected 60 days for case complete. Honestly, when we got to the NVC, I was hoping we would be finished by August....now I am hoping to be done sooner than that.

NVC needs to update that letter they're sending out!

I looked at the spreadsheet and now my hopes are so high. :-)

Probably not going to update their letter. I would rather be told 60 days and finish in 30 days, then be told 30 days and finish in 60 days.
