Just for small talk while we wait... did everyone else organize your packet into sections with divider tabs and all?

I did divider tabs with cover sheets for each section. I also printed out small address size labels with my husbands name and A# and stuck one at the top corner of each page. I used the post it tabs so if they are in the way they can be removed.

Approved! Got the notice today from email, dated 8/17/2015! Can't believe that I read my email many many times and hope I get the new card by this week!!

For dividers, i didnt use any tabs. I used paperclips qnd binder clips to keep like items together. I should have put a large binder clip for the whole thing but was trying to get it mailed off and stopped thinking about it. The box opened from the front so I hoped for the best. I didnt even remember to make a copy for myself but I have the cover letter so I know what I sent.

I have more now I can send too if there is an RFE. Not really worried, even if called in for an interview. We'd pass that for sure.

I did mine as one stack. Form on top, supplementary continuation page where I couldn't fit some information, then a page detailing all the following attached evidence in a list, and then all the evidence itself (including GC photocopy etc.). No tabs or dividers. I hole-punched at the top and clipped together using an ACCO fastener. I had one sheet that was longer than the rest (the deed docs for our apartment) so I just folded it up into the stack to match the height of the rest. Voila!

I basically followed one of the pages on USCIS's site on tips for filing. http://www.uscis.gov/forms/forms-and-fees/general-tips-assembling-applications-mailing

For small-talk's sake, I also ended up sending less than I had originally intended to. My evidence was:

* Copy of GC

* Copy of my State ID

* Apartment deed (jointly owned)

* Home insurance (both listed)

* 2014 tax return extension letter

* 2013 tax return (both married filing jointly)

* Bank statements for every. single. month. on our joint checking account (that was most of the paper weight).

* My benefits statement (just a screenshot of the online website thing showing he was beneficiary for my pension/life insurance)

* His health insurance overview page (I'm on his, it's better), and beneficiary payouts (again, both just a screenshot from the benefits websites)

And that's it. With my I-130 via DCF we never had to send them relationship evidence, so they really hardly have anything about us. Crazy, really.

After worrying about it earlier in the year and nagging husband to start printing a bunch of things, I basically ran out of gas on it and wanted to mail it off before we left for a trip. I figured that the worst case was only going to be an interview, and that didn't bother me at all.

hey guys! so to start out i had a wonderful trip in mexico! I got back home sunday night. To start off i had no problem departing the airport in cancun with just my expired green card and passport. When i arrived in houston, tx everything wasn't as simple as I had herd it would be. as soon as I got up to the counter while passing immigration the CBP officer acted like he had no idea what the extension letter was and kept asking how i gained my green card. like really?? My wife which is a US Citizen went with me through the same line. of course she didn't have any problem but then the officer told me to wait and called another officer to come get me and they scored me to a room where there was many more people in. when we asked if my wife could also come they said no so she had to wait for me down by baggage claim. I seriously had to wait in that room for almost 1 hr! while they "checked the status of my stamp" to see if everything was up to date. when they did call me over the officer never questioned me about my immigration status he was more concerned about asking me PERSONAl family questions. I am fluent in both spanish and english and he was a american officer. but from the start was speaking to me in spanish acting as if i did not no english but of course i respectfully told him i spoke english and everything he asked me in spanish i answered in english. (makes no sense to me) after questioning me about my family and personal stuff he finally put the stamp on my passport granting me entry as a US resident. but before he handed the passport over to me he asked me for my FULL SS#. Now that I am home thinking about it maybe he though i wasn't really me? or i don't know. the reason i think this is because everything he asked me where questions that ONLY i would know the answer to... moral of the story.... I AM NOT FLYING OUT OF THE COUNTRY AGAING UNTIL I HAVE MY 10 YR GREENCARD... maybe i just wasn't lucky with who i got..

Could be! Or, you were just unlucky and got snagged by some randomised security thing where they have to more thoroughly check every 1 in whatever number. Sorry that happened to you!

As a GC holder, have you considered getting Global Entry? I got it, and I have to say it feels magical to be able to enter US immigration without having to talk to one of the officers and get asked silly questions! http://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/global-entry

We did. Acco fastener at the top and tabs placed at the bottom of the pages for each section.

Been doing government paperwork as a job for most of my adult life (in Canada though), so it’s ingrained.

I didn’t do the labels on the top of each page this time. Perhaps I should have. <bites nails>

Even though my approval date was 8/12, the USCIS case status online has not yet changed. Any experiences how long it takes until it changes to GC in production? There's really no hurry, but I guess I'm just impatient...

We did a detailed cover letter.. It was 1.5 pages I think. Then everything else we paper clipped together and put a post-it note on it stating what it was showing ex. " lease signed by x and x."

I removed a few things before sending so it all fit nicely in an envelope.
