It probably means the embassy received the electronic case file. Paper copy may still be enroute. You should hear from the embassy soon!

My case was updated with "sent to NVC" yesterday.

I am not sure I am bothered to spend hours on the phone to NVC to get my case number - once the embassy sends me a letter, does that have the number as well? Does anyone know that?

The letter will have the case number, however I think it's better to call because who knows when they will send the letter (I didn't spend much time on the phone). my fiancé had his packet 3 already and I didn't have that letter yet so I called for the case number (they also gave me the iin number which I didn't use). the interview date and info was emailed to him last month and then we received the letter this month. :-/

Forgot to mention , it would be the NVC who would send you a letter saying that the case is being sent to the German embassy and on the bottom if should have your name , your fiances name, case number and USCIS receipt number .

In Germany, you book you own interview anyway AFTER the case is ready and you have submitted all embassy docs. The case number is only needed for tracking on CEAC; so right now, I don't need it and I don't need to waste time trying to reach NVC as the embassy will get in touch eventually anyway...

The NVC letter is not needed for the process, a lot of people never receive one.

Actually calling NVC wasn't bad for me I called after six made a mistake and hung twice on them. The third time she give me the wrong number so I called back and got the correct case number. Honestly I did was everyone else said to do call if the automated voice came on call right back. The average wait time on the phone when I called was 20 minutes I just did chores as I waited. You should deff try its crazy how fast things go once you are out TSC.

Okay, that must mean the embassy gives you the number too. Frankfurt asks you to only do the medical once you have an interview appointment scheduled. No saving time option anyway.

Well, in our case, when the embassy sent me the e-mail with the Packet 3 they didn't provide the case number. My fiance actually had to sign the "applicant's statement" and write the case number on it to send it to the embassy and then he received the e-mail with the medical exam and interview date. This is why we had to call NVC for the case number because I/we hadn't received any letters from them after being approved.. But I guess it's different for each case and embassy/consulate

Just be careful that you dont do it too soon and get locked into immigrating immediately. A few users in the past got medicals before an interview appointment and waited so long on a slow embassy that they had less than a month to immigrate because the medical was going to expire.

I get to join the club! I was avoiding this thread like the plague a couple of days ago, haha.

In the response my congressman's office sent me they had a very detailed next steps guide (which basically looks like the guides here), but this one part was interesting: "After USCIS approves the I-129F petition, they send the approval to the National Visa Center. The National Visa Center performs a background check on the foreign national fiancé. The NVC will give you a case number and send your petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where your fiancé(e) lives. (This can take up to 40 days)."

I didn't know about the background checks of the foreign fiance by NVC. I wonder how they manage that! It also said that my case will be sent to the NVC within 14 business days, so I guess that really is their official policy.

Hi there!

I'm happy to join this thread, we were aproved yesterday!!!

Congrats to you and everyone else here! It has been quite a journey.

The NOA-2 letter will only contain you Alien registration number, not the NVC number. The physical NOA-2 should arrive within a week - ours did in 6 days.

Our case, as per status update online, was sent to NVC 9 business days post-approval. I don't intend to call, I'll wait to be notified by the German embassy. I am expecting for them to contact me early July.

Okay, so I caved.... the NOA-2 elation is wearing off and I want the process to move on.

40 redials, 15mins in the NVC queue - our case isn't there yet.

It has been sent there June 16th, so it probably was a long shot anyway. Maybe I'll give it another shot on Thursday or Friday.
