Hi,

Thank you for your answers.

The first thing I did was to sign up for email and text notifications.

Everything went smooth with the receipt notice letter... so that means there is nothing wrong with my mail / postal office, right?

Then nothing ever changed... the online status never changed for the fp appointment even if I got the letter.

On Friday was the first time when I talked to a 2nd Tier officer who had access to my interview date.

He confirmed that I missed my appointment. He said that my interview will "probably" be rescheduled and that I will have to monitor my case closely... call once a week or so to check.

I also have a service request filed at the beginning of April... I am not sure what will happen to that one...

I will call them on Monday first thing in the morning. How do I speak to the Tier 2? Do I need to tell them to transfer right away?

Then the next Monday I have the info pass appointment ... too bad I couldn't schedule earlier... there was nothing available.

So what is your online status now ? It must have been charged when interview was scheduled and also before that when you were in line for interview. In some cases it does not change for finger prints scheduled and stay on application received. And yes you demand to talk to tier 2 immigration officer tell customer service guy I allready missed the interview and you don't have access to system where the schedule new interview.

I just noticed I said it never changed since my receipt notice. I apologize... I did not sleep too much lately... so it did change after the fp appointment.

Currently it says:

On March 9, 2016, we scheduled an interview for your Form N-400

It did change on March 8th (after the fp appointment) saying that they are scheduling my interview.

Then it stayed the same from March 9th.

I will call them tomorrow and ask for the Tier 2 officer. Hopefully I will get more information.

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate your help.

Have a nice rest of the weekend.

P.S.

I only got the email and text notifications for the receipt notice.

I am not sure why I did not get them for the "in line for interview" and "interview".

You have to insist to talk to a teir 2 officer in situations like these. I never talk to a atier 1 officer other than to ask them to transfer me to a tier two officer. The tier two can see your intrview appointments, service request responses, notes by IO and many others. So, anytime you are worried about missing an appointment or have a question on the application, tier 2 is always the way to go. Also, make a screenshot of status online. That should back you up.

P.S.

I only got the email and text notifications for the receipt notice.

Good to know...thank you!

Also, the screenshot is a wonderful idea... I never thought about it but I will do one right now and show it next Monday.

I am curious about one thing though... are USCIS officers supposed to call me / my husband on our cell phones?

It was an unknown number with lots of 0s...my first thought was that it is a scam but then how did he know about my interview date... very strange.

First it called me and then my husband.

I missed the call because I was in a meeting at work.

I didn't know that somebody will call me. I never received a phone call during my Immigration process.

Actually, they're not supposed to call you according to their own rules. They are supposed to send you an interview notice and if you miss it, you are supposed to be sent a letter asking you to explain, within 30 days, why you missed your interview. If you reply with an appropriate reason (and "I never got a letter in the mail" is definitely an appropriate reason because the post office loses mail all the time), they are supposed to send you a second letter. If you miss your second interview, your application is automatically denied.

Remember that the vast majority of applicants don't know about Visa Journey and similar forums... they just follow the rules. They call and a Tier 1 rep tells them to keep waiting, so they do what they're told, then they miss the interview.

You can consider the phone call a courtesy on the officer's part... even if he was rude, he was trying to save you some time.

When you waste their time and resources and not show up on the interview they will call you. It's US Government you are dealing with.

There must be part of this story I'm missing... sorry if I've missed a post somewhere... I thought the letter was just lost in the mail, which happens reasonably often with USCIS. If there's more to the story, I'm surprised they didn't just deny the application... they're usually not very forgiving.

On a side note; glad to see your process is moving forward again too.

They can call you at times though I am not sure they are supposed to. I have received calls from them before. One was cancelling my original interview hours before I was about to attend and one rescheduling. Sometimes you cannot even call those numbers back unless you are given a direct one.

Now that I see your updated online status, it will not do you any good keeping the screenshot. We all get that when we get scheduled for an interview so that will not help. I thought you had siad your online status never changed to this. I would think your interview going by the date of the update was probably around April 13th or 14th. If you ever see that update again, always add 35 days and that will be your approximate interview date. If you do not receive it 20 days from the date on the status update, call them ASAP and they will fax the interview letter. At least that is what they told me.

Hello,

Golfer, It was never my intention to waste anybody's time.

JimmyHou, it did not bother me that they called... I only wish I knew I had to monitor my phone. When I am at work I do not usually take personal calls but I WILL DEFINITELY take a phone call from USCIS no matter where I am or what I am doing.

Yes, you are right..there are so many people who do not use forums and don't know what to do...they just follow the instructions and call the customer service...honestly I didn't even know about Tier 2 officers until know. God bless this forum!

No, you didn't miss anything... I was only missing my interview because I did not receive the letter. You are correct about the letter asking to explain, I have been told that this morning...now I really hope that I will receive that letter...I lost my confidence in the post office.

Mananto, you are correct about the interview date.

Also I called this morning and I've been told I cannot be transferred to my field office and that I will have to fill an info pass.

I do have one and I will go next week... but I just wanted to calm down a little bit and be able to sleep until then...

Thank you all.

Somebody mentioned to ask them to fax my letter.

I do not have a fax... is it possible to fax on my email?

Honestly I will even consider buying a fax if that would be the only way to be sure I get the notifications.

All you need to do is call them when you are a FedEx Office store. Ask the FedEx guys for the number to a fax machine which you can give the USCIS and they can fax as you wait. If you can't wait, you just let the FedEx guys know that you are expecting a fax on that number and they will call you once it arrives. You pay for it and then you are out of there. Normally they will fax it while you wait.
