You'll get a biometrics appointment letter after the NOA. It is usually scheduled for a few (maybe 4 to 5) weeks after applying, but it takes longer for some people.

Just curious about the 'In line' status.

What does this notification say? Does anyone have an understanding on the time taken after fingerprinting before it goes to In line?

I have done some checking some of the monthly threads and it seems to vary from a couple of days to more than a month after fingerprinting... with most people getting it with in a few days after FP

Is it the e-notification about the interview being scheduled with the letter expected in the next few days ?

Or is it something that says when you are done with the background check and are waiting for availability at the field office for a interview?

You're supposed to go at the time of your appointment but some centers let you go in early. Some need proof of travel at the time of your scheduled appointment and some don't. Some will turn you away regardless of the excuse.

Does it make the process faster? Hard to tell, but it won't speed it up by any more than 8 days since your appointment is only 8 days away. In a multi-month process, that is not significant.

If you can go at the time of your original appointment, go then. If you can't, the try your luck with a walk-in.

I have no personal experience with the Dallas service center.
