hi to all,

i'm back again , seeking help on this step of my adventure of marrying a foreign national. Ruby , came here oct 28,06 on a K1 visa, she got her SS# , then we married jan6,07- she got her ma. id card and we opened a joint bank acct..

here ,is where my problems arises-- now we need to file an AOS, but what happens first?

i called immigration to see if we needed to file form I-693 or just supplemental form to I-693 . I was told that prior to filing the AOS forms ,that I needed to file an I-130,and wait to be contacted>>????!!!!

this is the first i've heard about this . can anyone just tell me straightout what is required, in this game with ever changing rules.

we live in ma. thanks for the help douie :help: :help:

You do not have to file an I-130. And you will only need the I-693A (vaccination supplemental) transcribed by a civil surgeon from the DS-3025 you received at the medical overseas (or some other vaccination record), not the full I-693 since presumably your wife's medical is less than a year old.

Here is a good place to start: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1k3aos

The guide outlines the process for adjusting status from K1 to a permanent resident.

Here is the guide at the top of the page that is very easy to follow: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1k3aos

Also, because she came on a k1 visa, and IF her medical is less than a year old, then she just needs to get a civil surgeon to fill out a I-963a (vaccination supplement) and NOT do the whole medical again - call around because lots of them want you to do the whole medical again and you don't need to. If she has a copy the DS-3025 (vaccination worksheet) from her panel physician in her home country then that is what is used to fill in the I-963a.

Good luck.

thanks , i've been using visa journey all along-- however i sometimes "over engineer " things . triple checking. and then when the 'authorities ' just confuse things- by not really knowing the actual process.

well we're off to be transcribed

thanks again
