Has anyone heard (in the last day or 2) of the status of DCF if you want to file now? I dont mean for those who filed before 01/23.

Please let me know regardless of if it has been good or bad.

I havent had a chance to contact my own local embassy so I was wondering if anyone else has.

I emailed the embassy in Sofia if DCF is really coming back, and they replied to me this morning:

"We are still waiting for guidance from the Department of State and Department of Homeland Security."

Several similar posts about this in the "DCF is Back" thread, too. Big wheels seem to be (slowly) turning.

I do have friends both in Consular section and CIS. I keep posting every bit of news I get in DCF is back thread.

A message was sent out from one of the directors of the CIS rome district saying that consular sections are going to be accepting petitions again. So most all consular sections and CIS offices know it's comming back, but the official word to get back to business has been anxiously awaited for the last week.

That's where things stand for now.

No further word has

Yeah I was aware of the DCF is back thread but I posted this in order to see if any more concrete news has been posted whether it be good bad or the ugly .. . . .I would expect for anyone that gets the good news that they are opening up to post it but I wouldnt necessarily have expected for anyone to have anounced that (God Forbid!) DCF wont come back. This was basically my attempt to poke a stick at DCF and see if it is still alive.

It sounds like it is still alive (or at least, with so many complaints and poking, coming back to life!) and that The Powers That Be are working out the details. At least Sofia didn't tell me "we are no longer accepting I-130's."

Also - just a note: the Department of State website has removed that "Attention: All I-130's must go through USCIS" message, and instead has a detailed set of instructions, including this: "Sometimes a U.S. citizen living abroad can file an immigrant visa petition at an U.S. embassy or consulate (post). To find out whether you can file a petition at a specific post abroad, you must ask that post."
