My husband and I had the interview on April 30 in Atlanta. The officer was not young at all and didn't ask many questions. He was mainly busy with the paperwork. He looked very thoroughly at my medical papers and asked for medical form from my home country, fortunately I took a copy of it to the interview.

He asked for some evidence. I gave him pictures, lease contract, papers from my husband's work stating that I also receive the benefits such as medical insurance etc. And then he said no more, though I wanted to show him other stuff but he did not need it. The interview itself was very short. And he said that we were approved and starting from April 30 I am a permanent resident and I would receive my green card within 3-6 weeks. He said that my card would have the date of April 30th on it. He also added that it was a standard wording so that people would not get their hopes up and in fact card usually arrives faster. And morever he explained us about removal of conditions in 2 years, when to submit the form for it and even the key points of applying for a citizenship.

Based on everything he said I thought everything was fine and even better than it could be. I thought it was approval. But as of today there are still no news or updates on the USCIS website and it says "On March 25 we scheduled you for an interview and mailed you an interview notice. Your interview is on April 30, 2015"

We called the USCIS but they could not say anything besides wait for 10 days after the interview and also that the processing times of the office in Atlanta for AOS is only August and it may take 6 months.

I dont understand what happened, the interviewed seemed to go really smoothly but there is no decision yet for some reason.

Hi panssey,

I think your experience was positive. Maybe the local office is just backlogged and needs more time to update you. The Officer would not even talked to you about the permanent resident and removal of conditions in the first place if it's not approved at all. Some of the threads I read said that the officer may also have supervisors/higher ups that they need to discuss it with so it takes time but definitely it's positive :)

Thank you for sharing your experience. I badly need it and hope other VJs share their interview experience too for us that will be going through the process :)

Monday next will be a month for me. One will wonder why they are taking this long to make a decision on our case. Everyday I wake and expect to receive a text from USCIS on a case update of any kind lol.

My experience, don't count dates. Just let it go as normal and it will come in no time. Just do your daily routine (works, schools, outdoor activities...) Good luck.

That's true. And I know I will see it like that and give that advice once this is over and done with and I look back on the process. It is not inhibiting my daily life, but when I do think about it I get frustrated. I would not have been so antsy if it was not for the holiday we had planned for June. And there I was last year, thinking my prediction of getting this done by April will be "the very latest..."

Thank you for your encouraging words!

I feel like I am again waiting for NOA2. It's like I am back in the past again with all impatience, anxiety and frustration. I think I didnt check my status so often even then. Now it's everyday several times a day, but still nothing. But I guess I cannot complain because you, guys, had your interviews earlier than me and have been waiting for any decision longer.

I've read a story of a girl who was sent a RFE two weeks later after the interview though she was told that she would receive her green card mid-May and everything was ok. And then two more weeks later USCIS denied her petition for a green card and annulled her combo-card because of the divorce papers
