I have no idea how we did it, but we did. She got the pink slip. I had almost no income last year, I have no job, no prospects....They only took my 2006 tax return (a printed copy) w-2 and 1099, that's all they looked at, that's all they cared about, they didnt care about my past w-2's or tax returns. They literally threw all the other papers back to my fiancee, gave her a number and told her to wait. I dont know how some of you guys got out of the consulate by 10:30, Ngan didnt get out until 3:00, they did let her out for lunch at 1pm though, which was nice of them. Though when she came out for lunch, she told me that they didnt take any of our papers, only the bad papers that showed I had no income, we were certain that she'd get a blue slip. Girl after girl after girl came out of there with the blue slips. The one thing that I did do, which I think was the deciding factor was I wrote out a letter explaining how Ngan would be supported in America. I wrote, through my own income, through her own income and through my parents income. I had an employment letter from my old work saying that they would hire me again if I needed a job, I had a letter from my parents friend saying that he would hire Ngan and I had my parents I-134. They did take the letter, they did not take any of the other supporting evidence that I attached to it, the employment letters and I-134, they just took the letter. When she was interviewing, the man asked her for the evidence of employment. But, if I never had writen that letter, he would have never known. Don't bother with a co-sponsor if you're planning to use one, they wont look at it or take it. One girl got a blue slip becuase she used 2005 records, they wanted the 2006's. The man who interviewed Ngan was mean at first, then she joked with him a little and he brightened up. He looked at my 1099 from my father and said, 'who's this?' Ngan said, my fiance's father. He said, 'why did he just give him 8,500 dollars?' Ngan said, he mowed his lawn(yeah, 8,500 for mowing a lawn, good answer, Ngan.) Then he said, okay, show me some pictures. Ngan showed him the pictures of us on Tran Phu street in Nha Trang, he said, 'I love Nha Trang, is this Tran Phu street?' Ngan said, 'do you love nha trang because its beautiful or do you love it because the girls there are beautiful?' He laughed and lightened up a bit. He asked who my parents friend was and for her to show him the employment letter. He asked for the story of how we met. Then he said, 'How is your english so well and you're not employed?' Ngan replied, I'm so young, I studied english after high school for 2 years, i'm too young to start working. He asked how we proposed. He asked to see some emails, then when she showed him the big stack he said that was too many for him to look through and just waved it off. He asked her aunts name in america, she answered Quy, he said, that's not what it says here, then Ngan said, oh, yeah, well one died. Then he said, pass. The translating girl gave the man a pink slip, he signed it and said, 'have a good life.' She came out of the consulate waving the paper. I, who had been sitting in the 95 degree heat since 7am, was utterly amazed. The whole time I waited, I was cursing America for being so difficult, talking to a man about how Bush is an idiot and all. She passed! Unbelievable, but she passed. We're very, very lucky. We get her visa today. And, since I already bought our plane tickets for the 20th, we leave in a week. I wish we could stay longer for tet, but that's not really an option with all the flights coming and going so full. Good luck to everyone else. The advise I would give is to write out a letter of how your fiancee will be supported, in detail. Pink, Pink, Pink!
