Have you established a primary care physician yet? Are you under Charles health insurance plan? Co pay shouldn't be more than $15 to $20 per visit and it is money well invested. You can take all the advice you want over the internet but without a proper checkup you probably won't get to the root of the problem.

I had back aches for a few years and finally went for a physical and mentioned it to my doctor. Other symptoms I had made her run a full blood test on me and a few visits to a Rheumatologist later I now know that I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. Unfortunately I can't take a whole lot of pain meds because a lot make me bloated like ibuprofen and naprosen, etc. I usually take tylenol 8-hour during the day and a vicadin at night. My doctor just started me on 5mg of prednisone for a week trial basis and if that cures my flare-up that I'm in now then he'll have an idea of what other meds may help. It's the type of thing where you need to get to the cause and stop it from progressing rather than just take pain meds only 'cause it does progress and eventually do damage to your joints.

Im not saying this is you but just trying to prove that it pays to see a doctor. Maybe you actually injured your spine and you wouldn't know it without an mri, you know?

Hope you feel better soon 'cause lemme tell ya pain sucks!!!! (F)

Before Bedtime

IF you have a big tub, have a bath with Emulson Salt, then Get a nice rub with BenGay, it will feel warm then cover up for the night. After a couple of days it does the trick, daytime I would use a heat pad. I also have this medicine from an old friend when I was in St petersburg a few years ago. It's hand massager but this one is different it has 3 pong with cotton swap, you wet the cotton swap and you massage it gently over the area, you start really slow and increase the power as you go along, you can feel the muscle tighting and relaxing, it's like a hand free massage.

yes, nessa is covered under the military medical care, no co-pays as long as she is seen on base. same applies for prescriptions too.

Nessa,

Buy Charles a How-to book on therapeutic massage. Seriously, a good massage does wonders for relaxing tight muscles. As for long term care - I'd recommend stretching and strengthening your back muscles - how about signing up for a yoga class? :star:

Definately a great suggestion! A good deep tissue massage can do wonders. I use to work as a massage therapist until recently, and had great success with people who had been on pain meds for years and would still have chronic pain. If you see a chiropractor then a couple of days later get a nice deep tissue massage, you will be surprised with how you feel. As well yoga is great for back pain, strengthens your core muscles and helps relax any tension.

I am also a Massage Therapist and have great results with my clients.

I agree with a Chiropractic adjustment, accupunture and moist heat for chronic

muscle pain but cold for inflammation......so you really should seek a good diagnosis

of what exactly is the cause.

Don't just cover up the pain with meds but find out the cause and get treatment.

It is important to get deep tissue massage from a licensed therapist with medical knowledge and not just a "feel good spa rub down" that does not deal with the tissues involved.
