Once you know your KEV#, you can take matters into your own hands and start the process....go to the bank and pay the fee for the DS form....complete the DS form online(forgot the number...160 or 260).....then determine if you want to take the medical on one day and the interview the next, or space them out. You can view everything online once you complete your DS.

Good luck...now everything will move quickly!

Well, its a miracle!!!

Emailed Kyiv yesterday and got the reply today AND they actually answered the question, straight up.

Currently waiting time for the next available visa interview date is minimal (1-2 business days).

So as soon as they get the petition (still showing "At NVC") and they send the instructions, we can get the interview and med exam set up quick, fast and in a hurry.

You don't need to wait for the embassy to send instructions. All instructions are on their site. If you wait for them to send instructions, you will wait another month or so, and all they will say is that they received the petition and go to their site to get all info. Once it shows ready, just go ahead and schedule everything. My fiancee got a letter from the embassy after we already had the interview and got approved (and we didn't even want the earliest interview date that we could get, waited like 2 weeks as that was a better time for us).

Thanks for the info VB.

Do I keep checking status at NVC for that ready notice? It's still showing At NVC right now. I seem to recal reading that it should change to In transit, is that correct?

Oh, I see you're doing CR-1. Does NVC set up the interview date for you or do you do it yourself in Kiev? If you do it yourself, then yes follow what I said and once it says ready that means the embassy has the case. I think the statuses are "At NVC", "In transit", "Ready" or something like that.

Thanks mate. Yes, we're doing a CR-1

If I understand rightly, the Consulate sets the interview after they receive the package from NVC. We have the freedom of setting our own date as well and we'll be on that like fleas on a hound.

Still showing At NVC for now and checking multiple times daily for the update.

   WE HAVE A DATE!!!!

NVC scheduled us for end of June, but I'm gonna try to change that to end of May. We wants outta this zoo and I REALLY wanna take my bride to her first Independence Day parade THIS YEAR.

It turns out, NVC actually schedules the interview THEN sends the hard copy of the petition. Apparently sending the petition when they acknowledged receipt of all needed docs FIRST then scheduling is too complicated. Anyway the package should be in Kyiv mid month then they'll send "the info".

I assume the info is to tell us to schedule the med exam, register with the courier, and make a bunch more pp pix, grab our docs, etc.

Status is READY!

Now we will gather the final few docs needed and get everything printed and copied and get the Med scheduled.

Anyone done a recent(ish) CR-1 interview in Kyiv? How'd it go? What should we expect?
